Hello people. I recently bought a 2017 ram 1500 v8 with 49k miles on it. I noticed that sometimes when im driving and come to a stop (ex. A red light) and i let go of the break or press the gas to move i feel a thump., similar to what it feel like when a motor mount is bad. I went to a local shop to see this mechanic that works at a doge dealership and told me its something a lot of trucks do and i have to get used to. He drove the truck hard to test it out, its not transmission related. He said he never had to change a motor mount before. This is my first truck, so i have no idea if this is true or not, but if anyone could shine some light on this, it would be very much apreciated. Some other guy told me it could be the T on the crank shaft?

Sounds like a motor mount, easy way to check is to open the hood so you can see the engine(or have someone look for you) don't have them stand in front of the vehicle, Start it up put your foot on the brake HARD then set the parking brake, put it in drive and give it some gas you should see and feel the engine lift on the driver side.
If it jumps the mount is broken.

Ill try this. It does feel like a motor mount, but the guy at the shop told me it wasnt so i took his word for it and since he said most truck make this thump jump/sound i took his word for it.

Am going to (hopefully) replace all u joints and grease up the slip joint, hopefully this helps
Odds are the u-joints are good with only 49K on the truck, but the slip yoke on the 2 piece driveshafts is famous for being sticky, and causing a driveline thump very similiar to what you're experiencing.

Yea thats i thought, 49k on a truck is nothing tbh, ill check them out anyways. And im gladd i got mutiple people tell me the same thing, that most likely is the slip joint, nothing that serious.

The consensus on the slip yoke is to use a good quality anti-seaze instead of grease on the splines

I haven't looked for a video Ed,but i know we used to use a good quality anti-seaze to lube the slip yokes on the older trucks with a slip yoke.Just make sure you put it back together the same way it came apart,i'd mark both the receiver shaft and slip yoke with a marker,so you don't end up with the front shaft out of sync with the rear shaft.

What would be a good anti-seize lubricant to use for the slip yoke?

^^^I believe this is the stuff Ford recommended for the same issue they had on their F150's.

I used it on my old 03 F150 and it solved the problem. I think I gave the rest of mine to a buddy for his F150.
