I was just thinking that some of these guys doing email tunes could be getting away with murder. If you know enough about custom tuning to decipher what has gone into one you probably don’t need to have someone else write a tune for you.

It really becomes difficult to gauge how good a tune is when you have aftermarket parts that require a tune to function correctly. I had to get a custom tune for my cam. I will say that I was impressed with the end result. But how much of it was the cam and how much was the custom tune? It seems that aside from purchasing multiple tunes from different sources there’s really no way of telling how good a tune is.

I feel that it’s important to note that the tuner(or toona) I use has quickly responded to every question and data log I’ve sent in. Even when dealing with health issues I was notified of the situation and still got a quick response. Pricing is very reasonable, and from what I can tell with my limited experience the tunes are doing what they are supposed to.

I keep the comparison simple, my trucks not as fast as my streetbike, but its a ****load faster than before it was camed/tuned.

Hopefully the guys with bad business practice get weeded out and good customers get hooked up with good tuners.

And we all live happily ever after

As someone about to take on a cam and lifter swap/upgrade I am glad I found this before I wasted my energy and money.

And just it’s known, weeks later, and he still hasn’t tried to remedy the situation at all. I’m glad I could help at least one person steer clear. Go local. There has to be a shop nearby you that tunes/works on high performance cars. Even if it’s an hour or more away. Good luck!

This was an interesting read. I have a 2011 Ram 1500 with bolt on upgrades.

1. A proper CAI that utilizes the factory box location with a bigger filter and intake pipe. It also seals itself against the hood to keep the engine heat out.
2. Throttle body spacer (more air volume)
3. Stainless steel headers with an internal coating to reduce heat.
4. Custom flow thru exhuast system.
5. Generic throttle enhancer programed to sport mode (they all do the same thing)
6. All season performance tires.
7.Diablosport 87 octane canned tune.

This Thang runs great on Amsoil fluids. It's a daily driver with upgraded charging system and custom sound system. The bed is full of junk n stuff. It chirps the tires at times. I built this to enjoy driving it. It actually improved on highway mileage. I don't care about city mpg. I'm never gonna track race it so this tune works well.

Eventually I'm gonna delete the clutch fan and install the v6 electric fan to free up more hp. But I love this Ram. I got the last year with the floor shifter and console. Whenever gas prices go down I'll load up the 93 octane tune. I'm happy with what I got. It serves it's purpose.

It's hard being a small business. Most die due to customer service. When you start and have free time your customer service is great. Then you get busy and fail to notice and one day it drops faster than it grew.

Small Claims Court, in your area. You got the receipts, get a Judgement.
Slap a Lein on his house. Notify the Credit Bureau's. Few key clicking,
couple of stamps and some enjoyment screwing with someone ,
who tried ot screw you, you'll get your money back.

Keep a logbook. make a checklist.
Not hard to do. haven;t done it, in decades, but doubt much has changed.

As tempting as that is, and I may still do it, I honestly just want the tune I paid for. For years I’ve read people rant and rave about this guys tune. My truck is still not quite running right after having it tuned locally. I really had high hopes of having the infamous “Jay Greene tune”…

Ah, gonna bet, if you get a splinter, you tend to try try try again to get it out.
I'm more of a grab a Razor, slice the skin open, grab it, pull it out and be done with it kind of people.
Either way works. I just have zero patience and want things that miff me, done and over with.

I wish you every good fortune in getting your money back and, wholeheartedly agree with you letting the world know your experience.

You might get more response on his facebook page and a couple of the hi-po Ram facebook pages.

What do you mean your truck isn't running quite right with a local tune? What's wrong with it?

All of that has been done. This thread is a couple months in now..

My transmission doesn’t feel like it’s shifting right, and it’s still burning rich..

So you're not running a Greene tune but someone else's?

You hit the nail on the head. No one cares for your truck like the owner..Service is a word that has been lost to some businesses.Don't be friends..be a money paying customer and get your money worth or do not pay and tell others..Shame you had too pay so much..Had a smaller scale event...did a rant in a public then private place and things were turned around to my satisfaction. I will always pay and thank for a job well done.

If something is worth doing, it is worth doing right, or in my momma's words, "if you chose to be an apple picker pick the hell out of those apples." You can spend a decade building your brand but lose it in an instant because you just chose to not pick the hell out of those apples. There is no excuse for what people are doing these days except a lack of a moral bone.

The tune he gave me, I loaded up, and my truck wouldn't even stay running. I contacted him and told him, he wouldn’t get back with me. I ended up going local because of it.
I've had 2 of his tunes on my truck,i'll never go to him again,he also doesn't have a great rep in the car world either. His fanboys blow his qualifications out of proportion, there's better tuners out there these days.

I wish I could find one.. I contacted Texas speed. Told them my whole situation, excluding the Greene part, until they asked who I used. The moment I told them, they ghosted me. I messaged hemifever, no response. I’m at a loss. I’ve even debated learning tuning myself, I just don’t care enough to learn it. I just want my truck running right. I’ll never modify anything again to this extent unless it’s a project I don’t need as a DD…
