Yes, Titan Diesel spare tank that is being used for gasoline. Protected from impact with a very heavy skid plate. Tank has been used for 2 years and 5 months with only ethenol free fuel with no problems or concerns. I've been super happy with the additional fuel on some of our longer off pavement trips.

I installed 5:13's in my 2020 PW in May of 2020. Only difference was rear pinion bearings and front pinion seal. Have 21k on gear sets with no issues.

Also installed the Titan remote fuel tank in spare tire location. It works!! View attachment 504057View attachment 504058

A lot to unpack here...

Can you please give some detail as to the gearing and where and exactly what you sourced?

Been wondering about that Titan tank for a while, not really in love with the design or fitment, but really interesting to know that it's not causing any issues with the truck. Evap sensors and the breather kit must be playing nice. I know that was a real struggle with the design of the AUX tank I had from LRA on my 200 Series. They must have to say diesel only for emissions and liability reasons. Do you have it plumbed to transfer on the fly?

Just got to go through your gallery...nice truck. Wish I had your fab skills.

A little background. I Bought the truck solely for trips and exploring not a daily driver. Our version of a RV. My intention was to send it straight to AEV to get the basics done. As AEV products are hard to get unless you send them the truck. I got the same story no gears available. I double checked all factory part numbers and confirmed these statements.
So I bought a new take off complete rear AAM 11.5 from a 2016 model year from a SEMA build with less the 100 miles on it. My plan was to just swap the whole rear end out with the new gear sets. When I had them side by side and the internals out they where nearly identical. Same casting numbers on center section. Different caliper mounting and the axles changed to a o-ring seal from gasket. The Pinion bearings OD ID where the same but the Tapers where different. I believe I used the older pinion yoke, I'll have to take I look to confirm that. So I turned down the original races and bearings so they would slide in and out to adjust the pinion depth easier and set them up with about six attempts. I bought the gears from justdifferentials.com you will also need a ring gear spacer for the front. The front pinion seal in the install kit was to large on the ID. so I sourced one from a local dealer based off VIN.MVIMG_20221011_170903.jpgMVIMG_20221011_170926.jpgMVIMG_20221011_170911.jpgScreenshot_20221011-172113~2.png

On the Titan Tank. Yes, it is plumbed for on the fly. I did have issues with the EVAP system. Check Engine lights for gas cap loose or off. I mounted the transfer pump lower so it would always have fuel in it and put a check valve in the vent tube to create a "closed loop system" even when transfering fuel on the go no lights come on. On the Titan Tank, I would agree the mounting is less the perfect. I built the skid plate with that in mind. I added a super dense 1/2 closed cell foam between to squeeze the tank in place. I see it as a much larger version of a fuel tank/skid plate in a Jeep TJ or LJ. The whole truck is really just a much larger version of a Jeep Rubicon. Minus the 4:1, lol Thanks for the compliments. It has been a super fun build for sure. My wife spends as much time in the shop as I do with her projects so I can get a lot done.

It's the right solution to make a convenient out of the box kit work for sure. Just not ideal the way my LRA tank was. I'm assuming Olympia is in WA, not sure how ya do it. Spent 2 years living in Kitsap County and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. Thanks for sharing the details.

I am a true believer that you can make anything work. In my early days of learning how to fab stuff together. The pick and pull junkyards where my favorite places. Just being able to look at how everything was built and put together was an education in it self. Plus the experience of pulling parts off in the mud and rain with out having proper tools is where the real learning comes from.

Yes Sir, Our main goal is to circumnavigate North America with as much off pavement as we can. I enjoy shop time for sure but driving and exploring is really our passion. I hope all the best in your future endeavors and retirement as well.

This is the second gas truck I know of that has done this. The other is on a 3500 with a flat bed FWC and he doesn't have it plumbed straight to the tank. He just simple has a pump hooked to it and will manually fill up the tank. This is a much slicker solutionfor sure. Still waiting on an actual long range tank though....

There’s lots of room where the spare tire is you can’t carry more than a 35 there I believe

Quick solo trip the past few days...

Late start meant a rather fun jaunt out to Alstrom Point in the dark...

c8cuTKn.jpg

kTvaXbJ.jpg

Followed by a long day connecting what's left of Lake Powell to Escalante via gorgeous but rather flood ravaged Smokey Mtn Rd...

GeZD7rw.jpg

fOJpJZc.jpg

And a decent spot to sleep for the night out on the monument...

cUcWjVG.jpg

Amazing what a summer of real monsoonal moisture can do to remake the canyons of the Escalante. Evidence shows this wash ran at least 4 feet deep wall to wall at some point this year rendering it almost unrecognizable compared to last year for much of it's 12 miles. Areas of heavy vegetation and painful boulder field rock crawling wiped smooth as a babies ass...

pNHAUdz.jpg

While other areas were stripped down to the underlying bedrock, and getting a bit toight for the big girl.

Yx0mHKu.jpg

This "slot" section is always fun, but the bypass to it was completely washed away, the road bed now a mire of 6 to 10 foot deep ruts that won't be fixed by anything less than a large dozer. So now it's a gatekeeper. You must be less than this big to enter.

OGGd6Pl.jpg

Couple of hundred miles or remote dirt, two nights under the stars, and one Burr Trail Grill Burger and a slice of their Apple Pie later and my head is all sorts of in a better place.

Just go, you'll see...

Yeah, I think one of the LRA 200 Series tanks could be made to fit with some relatively straightforward fabrication of brackets. Would really love it if their dual filler dealio would work as well. Until then I carry fuel in this if I think I might need it.

Are you still happy with the pintop kit? Any pros or cons now that you have more miles on it?
