I am looking to buy a 2017-2022 Ram Classic and was wondering if anyone can give their opinion on how the "2WD/4WD/Auto 4WD" works on your truck. I have worked on a lot of earlier 4X4's trucks through the years, but the newer transfercase's are very different to me. One question I have is, does "Auto 4WD" work like all wheel drive??
Any input is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks
Dennis

If the truck has a switch with " Auto " its the less desirable T-Case if you actually want to use your tuck as one

If you want your 44-44 t-case to act more like the 44-45 t-case,get ahold of Brandon for one of his plug-n-play lock up switches

It’s a clutch driven system. I use the auto mode mode in all northern Jersey climate conditions. It works well for me. In tough off road conditions, ie mudding or very low traction conditions, this transfer case is known to fail. I’m in my wrangler for those conditions.

I find it works just fine.

I don't see the use in the auto mode though, to be honest. If it's sloppy enough to warrant 4wd, I just put it in 4lock and forget about it. I know it's still clutched, but whatever.

The caveat of the BW44-44 transfer case is the factory programming doesn't send power to the from wheels unless wheel slippage is detected. Also the amount of torque transferred is varied based on steering angle. The lock up switch mentioned above negates these short comings of the transfer case.
