I know this has been explained a million times but I really need to find a tire this week had brother duratracs 275 60 20…and they got me thru an inspection. The fronts are cupped now and she needs new shoes and alignment. I was going to possibly do duratracs again but can’t find them anywhere in a 35. I’ve also been thinking of wildpeaks but kind of like the duratracs aggressive tread. I’ve also heard Toyo AT3 throw out by a member and even. I’ve even checked out Mickey Thompson BajaBoss. Generally just need something safe that I feel like the gf can drive truck and not end up in the ditch.

Wildpeaks are a way better tire than duracraps, esp in snow/winter conditions. General Grabber atx is another. BFG KO2 in the softer compound.
Feel like I’ve heard a lot of **** talk on KO2? Wildpeaks are a better tire then duratracs?

IDK maybe, I ran a set of KO2’s and loved them. I chase pow in the winter, skiing is my passion and they delivered me through the nastiest of weather. I needed a new set of snow tired but actually didn’t buy a set I was so impressed that winter.
Yes, W Peaks are better imho. Hated the Dcraps. Well they were pretty good in mud so there’s that.

The BFG are the best I've found in the snow and are fine for wear on the half tons. The toyo in my experience last longer, but you give up a bit of winter and wet traction to the harder compound. I'll go toyo next time myself, but I run dedicated snows in the winter so the winter traction is less of a concern for me and I run a lot of gravel roads that chew up softer tires. A lot of guys on here swear by the Falkens and a couple people I know have them, but not long enough yet to know how they hold up. I have nitto ridge grapplers at the moment and I definitely noticed I didn't have winter tires on the few times I've had them in the snow. Fine in "snow" , but once it's driven on and becomes ice they're not very good. The BFG still aren't as good as designated snow tires, but compared to every other all terrain I've run they're the closest to it.

I have had KO2, wildpeak at3w, Toyo AT2, at3 and RT as well as the stock duratracs and I like RT's the best even tho all were good and better than Duratracs. if you want something more aggressive look at the Toyo MT. one thing about Toyo you can use them for 45 days or 500 miles and if you don't like them for any reason you get your money back including labor. nobody else does that.

I personally run Wildpeaks. But except for the freak snowstorm in 2021, my road issues are water and ice. So cannot profess on snow, but during the freak storm, I was motoring through 8" of snow and ice no problem. Also helps to know how to drive in dat stuff and proper PSI on tires also.

for my money I go with General Grabber APT, It has the 3 peak designation so your insurance company will honor any discounts for winter tires ( some insurers don't classify M&S or all terain as winter approved). It has the AT tire look but it performs more on the highway and doesn't have a whole lot of sound when driving. Very smooth drive and excellent life even in the summer on hot pavement. Great in rain.
I have had them on my jeep grand cherokee and never got stuck with them even doing off road. Soon as my truck needs new shoes I am going with them again.
Did I mention they won't suck your wallet clean? My opinion but I have used them for a while with all variety of driving and locales.

There are winter tires, and there are A/T tires. I don't know of any "winter A/T tires". But there are A/T tires which are rated for winter use. Look for an A/T tire that has the 3PMSF symbol. Most of the tires mentioned by other's have the 3PMSF symbol, and would work well for you. Remember that aggressive tread doesn't necessarily mean it's good for winter use. I have personal experience with KO2's and Falken Wildpeaks, and both worked great for winter use.

Yes I get it’s not a dedicated snow I just need something to get me by atm as snow will be flying soon. Many on here are saying wildpeaks are good for some reason brother didn’t like them as he went from duratracs to those and I have his old set of duratracs. I have a four inch super lift so 35s would fill this out the best. Is there any reason not to go 35 12.5 20?

Also what is the difference between a F rated tire versus an E?

To get a good year round tire for your use, truly depends on what kind of country you live in. This board has people from all over Canada and the States and even some from Europe. Opinions and experience will vary widely.

Here winter can be 50 below to, summer 90 above F. We get a lot of snow and ice in winter and deep mud and dirt roads in the summer, along with pavement use. I have tried all kinds of tires, I run Duratracs, as does 90% of the oil patch up here. They have large lugs for mud and snow, the newer version has way more syping for ice and wet, but they are noisier due to the aggressive tread. They also have the 3 Peaks which we need if we run in B.C. during the winter.

If I lived in Sandy dry country, with wet pavement, ice, and little snow, my choice would be very different. There is no such thing as an AT tire that is as good as a pure winter. What you need to find, if you want to run one tire year round, is the right choice for your specific area. A quality local shop should be your best source of recommendations for your area.

I had KO2's on my first RAM and loved them. I had gone with the E rated for the strong sidewall and thick lugs - I used to park in a city and did a lot of curb-climbing, rubbing and driving where I shouldn't have been to park (police either knew me or would leave me alone with my placard). I also had to get to work in all weather and they served me well.

On my last two RAMs I went with Wildpeaks - still have the 3PMS which is important to me - but I couldn't justify the price of KO2's since I now don't drive as much.
We get decent snow around here with at least a few 12+ storms a year and I also make a few trips to Vermont a few times each winter. I've been happy with their performance.

Yes, about a year ago they came out with one that has a lot more syping and a compound that stays slightly softer in cold weather. They also made a number of the LT models studable. They are a bunch better on ice and on packed snow.
