A few days ago, our truck needed new tires and at first I was upset, because I have bought the Nitto Tire USA Ridge Grappler only 4yrs ago.

But then I realized they've safely driven us around for over 73,000 miles and I think that is remarkable.

We had our fair shares of pavement (all different kinds of conditions), dirt road, mud, snow, ice and even an accident. Not to mention the sun continuously blasting their rays onto them both in OK and now TX.

The thread is beat up, uneven and even punctured. But thanks to having bought LT tires they did neither deflate nor burst. One spot is even as smooth as a baby's butt, but the overall thread is still good (see picture). Should have gotten another alignment.

So when it was time to order new ones, of course, we went with Nitto again. This time I wanted to try the new Recon Grapplers and I hope they'll be just as great as the Ridge Grapplers. 10ply of course. An alignment will follow, that's for sure.

Huge thank you to Discount Tire and the crew here. Overnight delivery and early appointment (1 day early!!), in and out in less than 45 minutes.

That's the way to go!

I just put a set of these (Ridge Grapplers) on my jeep. I am amazed as to how quiet and well they handle. So, when the Rebel needs new tires, I plan on getting a set for it.

Okay, 2K miles down, daily driver, some road trips, mostly asphalt, some dirt road, both loaded (passengers and luggage) and unloaded (just a driver), and so far they have been wonderful. Some people have complained about slipping when it's wet, and, while I don't know how they drive/accelerate, I can say that I don't have these issues. Acceleration, breaking and stopping are great, no complaints. Road noise is nonexistent, and comfort is great. I know people have complained about LT tires being less comfortable.... come on... go ride in a 1985 U1300, then you know what's uncomfortable.

Now, so far they haven't been any better or worse than the Ridge Grappler. We'll see in a few years (and after driving in snow and mud) how they compare.

The Recon’s are the contender against my Falken WP’s for my replacement set I will need this year. I have over 65k on the WP’s now and they have been excellent in every aspect of my driving. 2mo ago measured 12/32nds.
It may be a hard choice to make considering the cost of tires now and making sure I get the most for my dollars.

I had Nitto dura grapplers on my dually 3500, and thought they were great. I really didnt put that many miles on them(10K) as I used the truck only to pull my fiver. The stock nexens they put on the HDs are crap. I was glad to be rid of them at 14k miles, as two of them had failed with broken belts by then.

Did you tow with them? If so, how many miles?

I have the same tire - I have 41K on them and it is time for new tires.

I tow a TT for about 30K of the 41K miles.

I'm looking at Cooper HT3 now.

I did not really, once or twice maybe. We did haul many things though and had tire pressure always around 50 to 60, depending on load.
The Recons I have at 45 right now.

I just ordered the Recon Grapplers. LT35x12.50/20. The Recons are on sale for Presidents Day at Discount Tire. $110 instant off so $1824 total. Install is Friday. Dual sidewall design, so now I have a decision on which one to show. Leaning toward the left side lug pattern.

Good news.
Where are they made and how much do they cost? I am already shopping for tires since new trucks come with Firestone tires known to be short lived.

They are made in the United States, like many Nitto tires. Regarding price.... I'm going with Discount Tire for a long time now, they do have the best prices available and do price matching should you find them somewhere else for less.
