Ive been toying with the Idea of making a Off-Road flatbed for my truck for quite a while now. I need to mount a rear winch, Full size spare, jerry Cans and Recovery gear.

Today I think I found the best looking one I can design mine from. The square look actually fits the Ram pretty good and is way easier to build in your home shop :headbang:

Kinda cool looking. Looks a bit like a typical welders deck.

Yup but those are in the 5K+ range out here.

Pretty sure it should only be 1K in Material. Im heading to the shop now to start measuring everything.
Not sure where you are in Canada, I am near Edmonton. See used welding decks for sale pretty cheap on Kijiji pretty regularly. 500-1000 is pretty common.

Yup seen a few, But Modifying old rusty **** is a PITA. I rather start new and do it the way I want.
Totally your choice. Just thought with the price of new steel and aluminum might be a cost effective source of material. Will be interested to hear what your material costs are once you get all the stuff together. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Im a huge fan of the flatbed look. Your post got me distracted from studying enough to look around and see what all is out there, and I came across this. https://ddfab.co/newdodge/
Its for a 2500/3500 short bed SRW but looks to be a weld it yourself frame kit and then you have to add the decking to it. For $800 it may be a good starting point and seeing what you've managed on your truck so far I cant imagine it would be much extra work to adapt the mounting locations to fit a 1500

They are cheaper on Amazon. Im just waiting for some to get on Wearhouse deals.

Buddy is picking up my bed tommorow afternoon, So I need to go pick up metal in the AM.

Im still blown away how fast that sold today. wasnt expecting that at all since its a 2012. I guess I better like my flatbed now...

The only advantage to PA is they don't ask to many questions if it screws up and you need to return it,lol

I was thinking the same thing, lots sitting in back yards, just have to find one, I always thought a hoist would be neat, I did a 3/4 ton many yrs ago, back then , hydraulic was simple, now would have to be electric. But unless you haul rocks , no point I guess.
