Hey fellas just wanted to share a little info with my experience with the Armor Shield IX ceramic coating by Avalon king.com. So I just bought my slightly new truck and couldn’t wait to figure out how to protect it and make washing the truck faster and still get the pro detail look when I’m done. My city water kind of sucks plus my old truck was black and even though people always used to compliment me on how they couldn’t believe the truck was 8 years old I knew the water damage was there and a constant battle to try and maintain. After doing some research I decided to go with Armor Shield and even though it needs to go through the time process to really give a good evaluation, I can tell you that while doing the whole process the white is so bright on the truck I went to work yesterday and people thought I was on vacation because I got sun burn on my face from the reflection haha. The process is long and I decided to kind of do the truck in sections. What I did was wash the truck with normal car wash, and clay bared all the paint on the truck. I then used Avalon kings prep shampoo and washed the truck again. Dried it and prepped the entire vehicle with the company’s ipa prep spray (even the trucks windows / trim plastics/ wheels) which I believe is 91% alcohol to be honest. I then used the supplied application block and cloth keeping it wet at all times ( that’s what she said) and applying on the truck in a cross hatch pattern. For an example I did this process on driver side front fender then would apply on passenger side front fender , when I was done I’d buff out the first fender I applied it to. I did this to windows paint wheels and trim 2x to guarantee a 2-3 life span. I also purchased their maintenance shampoo and ceramic spray (detailer or topper for ceramic coatings ……. Said to make the ceramic coating last years longer). I’m impressed with the results and if anyone has any questions just let me know. Yes it was time consuming but definitely easy that I couldn’t really mess it up. Btw the wheels aren’t done in the pictures I posted lol don’t judge me ! Good luck gents if you decide to go this route, I’m so far happy about it

I just bought a white 4th gen that the guy had already had ceramic coated but they just coated right over swirls and iron deposits, so I'll be stripping it off to redo. How bad was it to keep track of where you'd be on white? I've never done ceramic before but done plenty of sealant and wax, it's hard enough to not miss a spot with those products lol

Looks great. I love the fuel contra wheels. I was looking at getting some for my 2500. What size and offset are those?

I def. had to look at the paint at a hard angle to tell the difference, on the hood of the cab I almost used painters tape to start sectioning off areas but I ended up getting through it.

also just wanted to make a quick suggestion if your significant other might drive your truck every now and then ....... do yourself a favor and buy 20x10 wheels save yourself some curb rash frustration...... and if you have to have 22s dont go with the 12 wide do a 22x10 if avail....... the rim is just out there with no margin of error for curbs

I personally have not used armor shield, but the things I have heard in the detailing world is that its just so so. In the end if you are happy with it then that's all that matters. I am testing Koch Chemie Body Guard C0.02 on my ram. I did a 3 step on it. I had to rotary a few places from previous paint fixes. Its a 12 with 158k on it.
