I know a lot of people use the PUP 0w40 as their primary oil or a mix like me w/5w20. I always seem to have a hard time finding it in stock or at a reasonable price. This is a 6pk for $50.99. Below is a link at Amazon for a decent price compared to what it is normally sold at.

import tax is only 5%? there are some strange things going on man.
You got that right Mike.Somebodies getting rich, lol. It's cheaper to buy Redline then it is to buy 0W-40 PUP up here.Canadian Tire puts PUP on sale fairly often, but they don't carry the 0W-40,but 5W-30 when it's onsale is a good bargain

Just bought 3 6 packs last week. The individual QT prices were even a bit cheaper but there was a limit on how many you could buy that way so I bought 3. I have my next 3 oil changes with the RP 20-500 and Biotech LubeGard on the shelf.

A few places carry the PUP 0W40 in town but was almost as expensive as Redline.

I know a few Auto Values have it and I believe Lordco has it too.

Last time I bought some it was about a buck cheaper per quart than Redline, then Redline shot up so I think there is about a 5 dollar difference between the two now.

I've been buying (5W-20/30) from Walmart, in the 5qt jugs. Yeah, I end up with part of the second jug laying around, but I can get it for like $36/5qt that way, or $72 for 10 qts, versus your $50/6qts. It amazed the crap out of me, but I have done it 3x, across almost a year, and Walmart consistently was MUCH cheaper than anyone else for PUP.

Check them out, but also just check the 5QT jugs versus the single qts. I did the math, and the "extra" 2 qts (I was seeing like $14/qt) I needed over the single 5qt jug was almost as much as the entire 5qt jug, anywhere. Then Walmart was just cheaper than anyone else I looked at.

They also have supplied my Royal Purple filters, as again, they were cheaper than anywhere else I looked. So my filter, and minimum of 1 5 qt jug, gets me free shipping, with out having to use the Wife's walmart+. (Math I did says I can do on every like 3rd change, only one 5qt jug, and still keep my full 7 qts in the engine of my 4th gen.)

Why are you running 0-40? Most people say 5-20 is too thin, and wouldn't 0-40 be thinner most of the time?

If that rip off cpntinues looks like road trips to Seattle will be bringing back PUP and filters from Walmart!
You can buy 5W-20 and 5W-30 PUP when it's on sale at Crappy Tire Dave, and it's usually a pretty good buy. This week they have Mobil 1 on sale for 45% off ($35.99 for 4.73L/5 quarts),so next week odds are they'll have PUP on sale,if not next week, the week after, lol.Canadian Tires oil sales on PUP and Mobil 1 are tough to beat

Great, thanks for the info..I will watch for that at the CRAPPY..cheers
It's tough to beat their oil sales on PUP or Mobil 1,or when they have their professional line of tools on sale for 70%+ off sales.

Few weeks ago I got 2x 5L jugs of 5w30 PUP on sale at Canadian Tire for 40$ each. So now I'm ready for my oil change as soon as outside temps get warmer.

0w40 is the cold and hot viscosity rating... a 5w20 or 5w30 is thicker cold and thinner hot than the 0w40. I run 0w40 in a turbo v8 bc I want the oil flowing best when the engine hasn't warmed up fully as I get into boost before the oil gets any heat in it. I would throw in 0w40 in the ram in a heart beat if it meets the spec. You get the benefits of better cold flow and thicker hot flow. I've always shy'd away from the 40 weight bc of the MDS system.

just for info purposes, the green line is 0w40, as you see it is thicker then other oils at cold. The 0 in 0w40 only means it is the thinnest they can make 40 weight without it dropping grade. This is at 40c, it gets way worse even colder it gets. The second image is what happens below zero, yes that is 5w40 but 0w40 is not far from 5w40, below zero any 40 weight is in the 1,000's. Now, 0w40 does lose viscosity which in moderate cold might be as thin as 5w30, but in real cold you will miss those vii's that sheared. If you kind find a motor oil viscosity calculator you can compare oils. Guys have ran 0w40 in the mds hemi with decent results, even thick 0w40's.

Oh, and btw, I've been using the Wix XP oil filter but the Fram Ultraguard right off the shelf at either Walmart or Canadian Tire looks really tempting. What do you guys think? I know some of you seem to swear by the Royal Purple filter. Don't have any warm or hot engine "Hemi tick", truck is 2008 2500 5.7 @ 135k km (roughly 80k miles) and was advised to run PUP 5w30 year round wich I started doing this year compared to running Castrol Edge 5w20 in winter and 5w30 in summer.
