Yes. I don't think I've seen a single install that tested under 500 at the wheels.

Neither do I. Not sure what he’s talking about embarrassing drivetrain loss. It’s 20-25% on the trucks which is pretty much the standard drivetrain loss for a 4wd truck.

The drivetrain loss would have to be like 30-40% to only make 400 at the wheels with a whipple.

This is from Whipple’s site. It’s close to 500. Realistically, 470 whp on a “400” bhp motor.

170 hp gain on a 310 rwhp motor. My only point is you almost lose 100 hp through the drive train.

Not hating on the Ram. I love both of mine. It’s what you are after. More power for racing or just because.

Both me and my buddies truck which are identical both have the whipple kit. They made almost identical numbers on the dyno at 505whp. ScLeCo on here made just over 500 at the wheels with his too.

A 100hp loss through drivetrain when the engine is making around 600 at the crank isn’t excessive or embarrassing.

The 20-25% loss is pretty much standard across the board especially for a 4wd truck. So there’s nothing special that makes the Ram/Hemi have any more drivetrain loss than anything comparable.

I agree with the percentage loss with 4wd but mine is 2wd with almost identical loss. I still plan on putting the 2.9 whipple on my 2020 just like my other Ram I posted. I digress with my embarrassing comment. I would just like to see a far more efficient transmission and drivetrain that has minimal loss. 10-15% tops.

The 8 speed is quite efficient it’s just everything that adds up and sucks a lot of power. Tranny, t-case, read end. The wheels and tires aren’t very light either so they contribute to it as well.

I agree though, it would be great to see only a 10-15% loss but I have my doubts thats on a happen any time soon. There’s a fine line between making everything extremely efficient but also durable as well.

I know this is a older post but just to let everyone know I called whipple today (3/3/2022). They are working on a whipple blower for the 5.7 hemi etorque! Guy said they have a truck on the lift as of today doing test fitting, etc. Kit should be ready by end of 2023 maybe early/mud 2024 at the latest. If you call whipple ask fir Dennis or Dennison. He confirmed it.

I thought i read somewhere that the ProCharger blower would work with the e-torque

Procharger already has a centrifugal blower for the hemi etorques. Whipple is working on a positive displacement (twin screw or roots style) top mounted blower. Instant torque /power with the whipple vs the linear power progression with the procharger.

Give whipple a call for more info.

Hang around awhile,i think you'll find alot of us already know the differances between a postive displacement blower and a progressive blower. I was running nitrous fed turbo set-ups and 6-71 blowers on street cars way back in the early 80's.You're a bit late to the party,i already posted a link to the new whipple awhile ago.

I almost did the edelbrock setup but was talked out of it for Procharger on my vette since then I went with it for my ram,no issues until you’ve in the 14+ range then a dedicated belt is needed. But good luck don’t know if all the tales of heat soak are true IATs are the enemy.0719F5D3-05CD-42C5-9A28-2AF48263DAE8.jpegB52FA39A-8DDD-4690-8538-30DB8342B9BB.jpeg40584268-730C-4B6D-85EC-F9DCB6940493.jpegD90DE339-1C27-4DB6-A1F9-4AEC1195819A.jpeg

How much boost can these engines take? Anybody know?

7-8 lbs. Trans will be the weakest link but if you go beyond the canned Diablo tune Procharger includes with it’s kit.The trans does its torque induced downshifting which makes a dyno tune rough but it can be done with HP and a trans tune.
