I've heard from multiple people that you cannot downgrade a UAQ radio. This is simply not true. There are some hurdles you sometimes have to jump through in order to complete the downgrade. I'll get to that, but just know that you are not SOL if you updated and something was broken. It CAN be fixed. Don't mail it in for $500+ to do a simple repair.

I was able to get my hands on a UAQ 34.2 update file and installed it and found it to be working fine. However, any time I would restart the car, the SiriusXM favorites would reset back to factory defaults. Not a big deal, but we do like to have our SiriusXM favorites. So here's my fix:

I tried to downgrade to 22.6, but could not. It said the update was not compatible with this vehicle. If this happens to you where you're having issues on your current version, DO NOT PANIC. You can downgrade the radio no problem. I was able to get my hands on a UAQ 30.24 update file. I put this on a drive and inserted it into the USB. It allowed me to "Update Now" which I did. I was able to flash the 30.24 update file onto the UAQ. Now here's the cool part. After I flashed 30.24, I went to see if I could downgrade to 28.3. I could! It said "Update Now" just like it did with 30.24! Awesome! Although I didn't try this personally, I have all the faith in the world that it would downgrade just like it did from 34.2 to 30.24. Heck you might be able to even downgrade 28.3 to 22.6

OKAY, OKAY. I know what you're thinking. But! The latest version available for the UAQ is 22.6. Well, yes and no. That is the currently well known version for the UAQ, but there are several newer versions that I was able to get my hands on. I am attaching the Google Drive with ZIP files with every UAQ/UAS Update file that's not already publicly listed like on mydrive.ch.

The versions I'm linking to are:

UAQ 28.3

UAQ 30.24

UAQ 34.2

&

UAS 30.24

I have personally installed all three of these on my Compass/Cherokee and RAM UAQ radio and all functionality including SiriusXM, Navigation, CarPlay, backup camera, etc. all work with zero issues.

Here's the link to all of those files:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Uc6gYueoqOdCo93y3FgaMiZFSBmPKSE6?usp=sharing

NOTE: If you download any of these files and use them on your own radios and damage your device, I'm not responsible. However, I have updated and downgraded my radios with these files and have had zero issues.

I hope this can help others to fix their radios or just tinker!

Casey,
Correct me if I'm wrong but this isn't for the 18/19 classic ram UAQ 68331631Ax radio.??? (Ie for a compass/Jeep Cherokee UAQ).

Latest ram 18/19c RAM UAQ version is v22.6

** Can you identify/list the PNs of the radio you loaded this on? **

Edit: quoting this here as a reference...
1st check in the dealer screen and see if it has a number under map database.if it doesn't they are gone.unfortunately the radio won't let you reload the same number firmware or go back to a older one.like mpgrimm just posted use at your own risk.but I have been running the 34.2 application with a 22.5 map pack with no problems the last two days.once you use the above applications there is no going back to a ram specific application you have basically just turned your ram uaq into a wrangler jl uaq.but the jl applications will let you go back to jl applications.

Well, so in my findings these firmwares are for different vehicles, however since they are for UAQ, they have the same drivers and functionality and work with Jeep and RAM in my testing.

I’m not sure as to any downsides or incompatibility issues, but it appears that the newer softwares work with all UAQ radios so matter which vehicle they’re installed into.

But yes. You are correct in that the latest version officially for the RAM is 22.6, however, these are compatible and working without issues except for the SiriusXM bug like I mentioned. But downgrading from 34.2 to 30.24 fixed that issue.

What version did you successfully load on the 18/19c ram UAQ 68331631Ax ?

I was able to update all the way to 34.2, but had issues with the SXM presets resetting. So I downgraded it back to 30.42 and have zero issues. Both on my wife’s Jeep and my Ram.

do not do this update on your ram radio if you want to go back to a specific ram application version.installed the 30.24 trying to let me go back to the 19.1.i wouldn't have tried it except i hated the sound of the 26.6 also any way the 30.24 seems to work so far but i tried a similar version on a caq radio and it worked for a day then the sreen would blank.hopefully this won't be the case.anyway tried going back to 18.14 and 22.6 both said software not compatable with vehicle.my radio is a ram uaq part number.

Mike,

I didn’t see that you asked for the part numbers I installed everything on. My wife and I actually just sold the Jeep Compass today to my brother. I’ll do some digging and see if I can find a picture of the serial number on it.

The other two are:

for sure do not use any non model specific applications on a uaq radio.ie if you have a ram part number radio do not use anything but a ram application.if you have a say a wrangler model radio with a wrangler application that may work in ram with a ram mount.but for whatever reason even though the radio reads the bcm even the user guide works the firmware doesn't jive with all things.34.1 loaded on my radio but the nav still will not load and now xm isn't showing up.the key cycles takes a little longer on these updates it takes 10 min for the radio to go to sleep after it powers down.the ram radios when the dash powers down 2 or three times you're good to go.i may give this a day or so.but in the past if the radio is correct everything pretty much works within three key cycles.another thing never get rid of any spare parts as soon as you do you will need them lol.

it seems for some reason the map packs aren't on the files some don't have them i know but the ones that are supposed to when downloaded show 1 gb. a file with complete map packs should be 9gb.i did get 28.3 loaded.when i check map database after all the new files it shows no map data base number so i think the nav is trying to load but there is no info to load.s0 i am going to down load 21.9 i know the file i am using has a map pack.and see if that loads if not i am going to try tagging the map pack to another file.almost 100% that won't work.what is your radio part number?if it is a wranger or other uaq radio with a ram mount the files you show should work no problem on that radio but not on a ram radio.pretty much all ra harmon radios no matter the car make use the same firmware as long as its the same year.

Do the map packs include updated map files? Or do you have to purchase those through Garmin?
