SKB, thanks for the tip on the LOCA. My screen is still working fine with no ghost touches. It just has the delamination pattern. I'll give the LOCA a shot and report back.

Definitely do, here is my deeper discussion on this topic. Take a look before trying, maybe you can improve on my method...read from this post on for my findings.

It's a good place to carry on this discussion too to make it easier to find for others interested.

If you have the jumpseat like me, I just disconnected the hub harness under the seat to verify that this corrected the restart behavior. I ended up just leaving the factory AUX pins disconnected at the back of the radio harness and added my own RCA outs on those pins (so the short is disconnected). Inspecting the harness and repairing the short should work just as well.

After pulling the bottom of the armrest apart and looking at the wiring from the hub down to the top of the bottom part of the jump seat I didn't notice any issues and left the camera up while I was moving wiring around to see if anything changed but no luck. Is there another spot under the bottom portion underneath the bottom of the jump seat base I may be missing? I'm not techy enough to add my own rca outs unfortunately lol.

The harness connects under the driver's seat in the front right corner (as you are sitting in it). Disconnect there and see if the reboots occur while driving.

On mine, the reboot only occured just as I flipped the seat-back up.

Greetings all. How can I purchase the media hub harness? I currently have the 8.4 with nav, upgrading to UAQ. Have the hub 68328704AC, but I take it I need a harness to make it work correctly. Thanks!

Hi guys, i am about to proced to the 8.4 UAS radio conversion. Right now i have a ra2 (i beleive, the 5 inch one).

I have 2 questions that i have found some informations, but not enough to confirm if it will work or not. The first one is critical,
I did order the conversion harness for the HVAC, but like an idiot i mentionned 7 speed motor instead of 4 speed motor. I do have a 4 speed motor, I can guess it is not okay, but will it still work with bugs, or not at all ?

My second question is about the media hub, i have a Ram 2018, and everywhere i see talks about 2013 to 2017, but nothing about the 2018 besides it is not the same hub, but will it works with apple carplay, or i still have to change it ?

Thanks all for your time!

If your truck is a 2018, the hub in the storage under the armrest will allow you to plug in your phone and use car play or Android auto. I have 2018 2500, came with basic radio, media port worked just fine. On harness, I have no idea. Maybe you should reach out and ask if you can change it. Good luck.

I'll clear this up... Even though you're not getting one of our harnesses ... the person you bought it from should make this clear (this happens so much that I don't know why there aren't more posts from people having a poor experience with harnesses bought elsewhere) ...

The 7 speed harness setup will not work for your 2018 4 speed 2500/3500 truck. Period.
... You need a 4 to 7 speed Conversion harness, fan resistor harness, 7spd fan resistor, 2018 2500 HVAC module, and very, very likely Single Zone ATC and Cabin Temp Sensor as well as making BCM Programming changes yourself with AlfaOBD to fix temp blend door issues. ( See link below).

** Our v4 universal 4/7 speed Harness set has ATC Temp Sensor wiring built in, is plug n play for 4spd 2500/3500 trucks with fan resistor harness... and I have everything in stock except for the radio/bezel. ALL NEW PARTS.

>> I'm technically on vacation but haven't left yet. <<
If you want to cancel that other knock off harness order and get one of mine, send me a message and I can get you setup correctly & shipped out tomorrow.

Your 2018 base model USB Hub will only work with Android Auto... You will need to replace it for Carplay to work.

Thanks for you answers guys!
And I have to say sorry for loosing your time Mpgrimm2, as the harness was actually the good one. But the guy who made it never asked anything about 4 or 7 speed, just took the money and sent it to me. I'm happy that i was wrong at the end!
I did install a tesla style radio long time ago which only works with 4 speeds even if the truck is a 7 speed, so i though i had a 4 speed... Anyways, the harness that i have is a 7 speed and my truck is a 7 speed, so that works!

For the usb hub, this is the part i need right ? 68328704AD

And you sell the harness too Mpgrimm2 ?

Thanks again, have a good time on vacation

You can get the hub adapter harness from my M2 Mods partner Deereguy's KAOdTECh.com site... (I make them also to send out with a conversion harness set)

> M2 Mods UAx USB Hub adapter harness ... $40

.

PS: if you're going back to a factory 2018 8.4 UAQ or UAS radio and hub and you have a 2018 ram 1500 with factory 7spd fan, you may need both ATC Part 1 and ATC Part 2 to get the hvac temp controls to work currently. See that HVAC problem thread by Gibbs linked previously above.

I did my UAS radio swap today and everything works well!
The only thing that is not working is as you stated the media hub. It works for android but doesnt seem to work with apple.
So i will have to change that part for the swap to be complete. Can you please confirm that I need to order this hub : 68328704AD and the harness found on KaodTech website and that's it ?

And about the HVAC thing you stated, I am not so sure what is the job of the HVAC in all this, but my temp control / blower is all working. I see no temperature and the auto-mode is not working, but that is okay with me and I guess this is what you were saying ?

Anyways, everything works, I will just wait for you confirmation before I order the hub & harness

Again, thanks alot for your precious time!

I did some more testing recently with several of the firmwares available for Jeeps that work for Rams. My "test" 2018 UAQ was suffering from the loud notifications after that constantly reset to 15.

I tried to wait for the update for v22.61 but was never prompted. I'm curious if anyone who was already running v22.6 was prompted for the v22.61 firmware?

Anyway, I successfully flashed 3 different Jeep firmwares (28.3, 30.24 ,34.2). All worked well but all gave the "device not recognized" error upon plugging in a cell phone to the USB hub. I suspect this is a driver issue but would need a Jeep USB hub to confirm. It's a far less bothersome error than the loud notifications.

That being said, the loud notifications was only solved by the latest Jeep UAQ firmware v34.2. In the two prior versions, the notifications remained loud.

In addition, if you flash v30.24 you should remove the Jeep map updates included. I believe it can cause the Navigation to become unresponsive and fail to load. @18harvest ran into this issue I believe.

Note that going to this firmware is irreversible until RAM provides firmware with a version number higher than v28.3 but one can go back to at least Jeep firmware v28.3 from either 30.24 or 34.2 (for some reason, the downgrade works for Jeep specific firmware). I'd also be curious to see if even older Jeep firmware would downgrade to anything prior to 22.6, then upgrade to v21.9 RAM firmware and see if the OTA to v22.61 comes through (and fixes loud notifications). Just a thought...

What's interesting is that brand new 4th gen Ram UAQ and UAS radios are shipping with the JR 34.2 sw and also have the device not recognized issue.

@Earl Zeis has run into this recently even with the 2018 ram USB Hub xxxxxx704Ax. Not sure if the 2018 Jeep compass hub or 200 Chrysler Hub would have this issue. see his post 3071 here.

2017 Laramie longhorn can confirm the Chrysler 200 hub works flawlessly. Used a fruit peeling knife to shave some plastic. Looks nice and neat no gaps! Thank you Mpgrimm2 for the harness and advice.
What exact panasonic radio PN/model are you using?

And do you know what application version the radio is running?

So, I came across the 5th Gen Ram Forum post on the device not supported error and tried this fix (which kinda worked)...

1. From powered off completely, place key in ACC position.

2. Hold down the Voice Recognition and End Call buttons simultaneously for 30 seconds (I did it for 60).

3. Turn key to off, remove key and wait for vehicle to power off completely.

Now when I plug in my phone the "device not supported" message pops up but disappears on its own after about 1 second instead of me having to manually press "ok"...happy,happy, happy.
