Understood, for a couple hundred dollars an oil change I don't mind changing it sooner, if it were a couple thousand then that's a different story.
I haven't look at the oil filter thread in awhile but I'm running the royal purple.... Is there something better that should be considered now...
The oil is in fact 5w-30 redline, I probably wrote 10w on the slip on accident, been one of those months/years.
Correct last run was first redline run.
I will probably keep the oil change to 6000 for the next one so I can compare apples to apples. If that shows the same trends I will start...
I'll take your word for it as I am unfamiliar with trends in the oil detergent world but will be curious what the third one shows.
The oil I bought for this change.... Maybe it was a couple gallons from some old stock that had a different detergent blend?
Welp, I'm back with my follow up oil change (Redline 5w-30 again) and not 2 years later. :) Seems some good trends are happening. Guess I will need at least one more to confirm the redline is also possibly acting as a cleaning agent and removing internal deposits of metals.
Technically there is...
Yeah she is mostly a garage queen since I have had her. I did make sure that when she was driven that it was for long enough periods of time that the oil heated up to temp to burn off the moisture.
Curious, what do you mean by "oil cooler"?
Appreciate the find, I know the UOA's are all about...
I saw that, that was virtually a brand new engine which one would expect the levels to be elevated but lower as time goes on, how did your levels look at 45K? The other reports I saw at my total mileage (45K) were considerably lower in all facets.
Steady as she goes is the plan in hopes that...
I looked through the last couple dozen pages and no one has anything near the levels I have for Al, Fe, Cu with as low of an OCI. Redline 5W/30 is the oil used.
So what's getting ready to grenade in my engine?
See video, this is the driver's side on a 2018 1500
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1beJCIAQPIbWPMD7cXeTqYYDHKLXacfHo/view?usp=drivesdk
Seems excessive, especially since the passenger side isn't as bad. Also is the amount of radial play seen in the video normal?
It's still under certified...
Mine is a no pop
Guess I'll have to trace the harness inside the console and see if it's close by.
I'm not gonna spend too much time trying to track it down as it's not a huge deal, especially since I can splice battery power from the rear one if needed
Back to the top
The keyed outlet in the front center console is not working, fuses fine, pulled center console and checked voltages at harness when key is on.... Nada.
Where is this second fuse mentioned above? I have bucket sears in the front. Any other possibilities?
