You can get the HVAC wiring harness (it splits the connection between the physical controls and the display) from ebay(search harness disassociated display).
I'd recommend a 2016 BCM, I installed a UAV in my 2016 1500 and haven't had an issue. Do you have the harness that splits the HVAC controls between the display and the physical buttons(this may be your issue with hvac not displaying)?
I would replace it with an aftermarket radio, and gain Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The RBZ can be replaced with an aftermarket radio(with an iDatalink Maestro) and the Factory Bluetooth Handsfree will keep working.
Unfortunately not, the Dash and Can Bus system changed in 2013. Your best option is to find a Radio that is custom made for the 2009-2012 Ram(Phoenix comes to mind), or look at custom radios that were designed for the Wrangler JK.
I wish I had pictures of my actual install, but I'll explain what I did. I used 1/8" ABS Plastic and epoxy to extend the top left and right tabs of the screen(circled red in the attached picture), I then cut a slot into the bottom tabs(circled in black). I then was able to use the factory...
You can make it work(I have), but you'll need to fabricate brackets for the screen and find a place in the dash to mount the radio unit. You'll need a display cable and the button interconnect cable. You'll also need a new bezel, and alfa obd to enable the screen.
