    Reman transmission recommendation

I wouldn't recommend Moveras (through one of the national chains). I got a 46RH from them last week and it lasted 50 miles before slipping. They were good at taking it back and refunding me, though

No power coming from brand new battery

Tricky. The problem with swapping engines from very different model years is the whole electronics system will be completely different. The 82 would have had a primitive ECU and maybe carbs? The 90 had electronic fuel injection and diagnostic abilities. The fuel/air mixture and timing profile...

    Knocking

If it's a LOUD knocking that doesn't go away engine cold or hot, idling or racing, it's likely your valve gear. Take the cover off and check the cam lobes for scratches on the surfaces, make sure the valve gear is very oily (no oil starvation), and that no springs have broken. I've also had the...

Replace Neutral Starter Switch on 2002 Dodge Ran 2500 Cummins with Manual Transmission

Have a look behind the dash about where the brake pedal switch is for the stop lamps; it's usually clipped/bolted on up there. In fact you can bypass the switch as a quick (or permanent) fix - every other manual transmission outside the US works fine without them.

Our Faithful Ram was Totalled by Reckless Uninsured Motorist

In Rhode Island he would probably be able to get any tickets dismissed by a judge, unlesshe was stoned or drunk. If they give you KBB value, and you spent a lot on the extras, you can usually buy the vehicle at scrap value from the junkyard and get your parts back that way.

    Occasional tick from engine

Soon as I heard it on the video I knew - valve gear problem. Can you hear it from 1/2 mile down the road? Oil starvation to one or more lobes can cause the case hardening to fail. Oil starvation can be caused by sludge clogging the oilways, which is caused by tardy oil changes. What condition is...

    No oil in the engine

I had a couple of disappearing oil experiences. The old Saturns were famous for burning oil, but they never smoked nor did the check engine light come on. It was 'normal' to burn a gallon or more of oil every 3000 miles. But a modern engine should NOT burn any oil at all. The OBD system should...

    Front Wheel Bearings

I'm reaching the end of my rope with my front wheel bearings. About a year ago I had a shop replace the front rotors/hubs/bearings as the rotors were worn badly. The bearings were OK at that time but I thought I would have them changed while the hubs were off. Anyway, a month or two later I...

87' Ram D100 sluggish throttle after fuel pump swap

What I remember about carburettors from my childhood days is that the float height can affect performance. But if the only thing that's changed is the fuel pump, it must be that causing the problem. Just one thought - a mechanical fuel pump is very low pressure and has a diaphragm that stops it...

    1990 D250 318 Upper Control Arms

Did you get the information you were looking for? I just replaced both my upper control arms - a fairly easy job. The axle weight is on the spec sticker under the hood. Mine says 'DJB 3300¦ FRONT AXLE' From my original parts catalog the 150 and 250 series used the 3300lb axle; the 3600lb...

Down one quart of oil, then put a quart in it, now it's a quart too full

I have a sticker on my windshield now from my last (2021) oil change! I also remember in the 80's being tought about the internal combustion engine - the 'oil level' can go UP because of water vapor condensing in the crankcase/ gasoline seepage past the piston rings, etc.

Watch Idle Hours & Change Oil every 3k Miles to Avoid Engine Failure!!

A friend of mine who rebuilds seized engines told me in the 90's to change the oil and filter religiously every 3000 miles - since then I've not had a seized engine or a camshaft failure. Even if it's Supertech from Walmart. As for idling, I was tought in the 80's that it is better for your...

    Transmission Issue (maybe)?

After the holidays I decided to have one last attempt at solving my tranny problem before buying a new one! I've put this out on the forum in case anyone else is stumped about what is going on with their A500. This model year had a rod linkage system to the throttle valve on the tranny. The...

    Transmission Issue (maybe)?

I've got a B250 with an A500 tranny. It ran great until a few days ago, when I changed the ATF and adjusted the brake band (again, routine service). Strange things started happening afterwards. When I drove up a gentle hill there was a slight judder from the steering wheel for a few seconds...

    Bypass Neutral Park Switch

I have a B250 and looking at the wiring diagrams the 1989 years are basically the same as the 1991 years. I don't have 1989 wiring diagram scanned, but I have a 1991 and I've attached it to this post. The BR/YL wire from the tranny switch is connected to the starter relay (PIN 2) and simply...
