    Maybe someone is messing with you, or maybe the truck is putting of the right frequency to trigger it. You know that alternators are 3 phase generators, they just use 6 diodes to convert it to dc power.

    After looking at a 1998 and 2001 service manual it appears that the plugs are the same but they are wired differently. I know that my 1999 favors the 2001 manual when it comes to wiring.
