Just purchased a 2023 Ram 1500 and a 2023 Keystone Hideout 176BH - Tow question
If you don’t have the tow package, your wear out your tranny sooner. The 6 cylinder will be ok (not great) for towing but don’t start flooring it to get up to speed, especially if you do not have the tow package. Rookie towing question. Weigh station requirements.
Not exactly true. Pay attention to the sign coming up to a weigh station. Have notice in a few states in the Midwest the signs used to be all commercial vehicles over 10,000 lbs must scale. Now they read all vehicles over 10,000 lbs must scale. My 1 ton and 11000 lbs trailer is over but still...- Bearcatrp

Unsure of tow capacity....
I had the same truck before upgrading to a 1 ton. You will most likely be overweight with that trailer Your looking at. If you can, upgrade to a 1 ton with the 8 speed. Diesel question
Had a 2014 Ram half ton with the 8 speed. Did fairly well. Top 2 gears were overdrives. Did get 21 mpg on one occasion . Then bumped up to a 2017 3/4 ton with 6 speed. Ok on flat land but not so good on hills. This 8 speed in my 1 ton does a good job. Just hope it doesn’t have issues as it gets...- Bearcatrp

The 8 speed in my current truck is awesome. Handles my 10,000 lb 5th wheel with easy on flat lands. Did fairly well going to Colorado a few weeks back. But, it had its moments on real high grades. Thanks for the quick replies. Still not happy Ram is still on a 6 speed while GM and Ford are using 10 speeds. But I do love the Cummins. Don’t like ford so may look at GM when the time comes to start shopping. Presume the Allison 10 speed really jacks up the price.- Bearcatrp

Correct. Same rear end. Pulling inclines with this 8 speed is a big difference from my 6 speed. I’ll find out next week on that big ass pass I’ll be going through again. It was brutal on my 6 speed.- Bearcatrp

Love the 8 speed transmission. Had a 3/4 ton with same engine but a 6 speed transmission. Big difference. Will see in a couple weeks how it handles pulling my 5th wheel through the pass between Cheyenne and Laramie. My 6 speed struggled. Hoping the 8 speed makes a big difference.- Bearcatrp

I Live Near Phoenix, Where there Are a Lots of Used 5th Wheels For Sale. What Brand Should I look For?
Would tell anyone looking for a RV to buy 5 years or older. By then, most of the bugs (warranty work) has been done. Just do a thorough inspection. Biggest issue is a roof leak. You see any stains on roof inside, walk away!- Bearcatrp

What ever you do, do NOT buy a keystone RV. Plus, stay away from camping world! Both will bend you over, take your money, and leave you hanging. Keystone will deny warranty work every chance they can. Camping world does shotty work. Trust me, I know from 1st hand experience I’m dealing with now...- Bearcatrp

Gasoline Capacity
Isn’t there some kind of stamping on the tank to identify the size? My 2021 3500 has a 50 gal tank. After reading this forum, I’ll be crawling underneath to verify. Also, have always been told to never run a vehicle dry that has fuel injectors as it could burn them up.- Bearcatrp
