    Well I made a phone call and he said there needs to be an extreme amount of outward pressure on the side gears to get that pin in.     Are you talking about the c clip that holds the axle onto the side gears? I pushed the axle inward, towards the other axle and removed the c clip from the axle end and then pulled the whole axle out of the shaft. Is there another c clip you are referring to?

    Yes I compared them. They were identical. Even when I tried reinstalling the original one, the carrier pin still doesn’t fit between the axles so even if I wasn’t replacing the axle there’s still a problem somewhere.
