You’re talking nonsense. You keep saying recalibrate but that’s not a thing. Take the software from a 3.92 factory truck and a 3.21 factory truck and they are identical. There is nothing different between a 3.21 and a 3.92 truck besides the gears in the diffs. Even the transmission “tune” is the same for a stock vehicle in each configuration regardless of the gear ratio. manifold heat shield
I debated leaving my heat shields off, but the EGT when idling or driving in stop/go traffic is where the real issue comes from. Crusing down the road even when hauling you'll get good airflow on the manifolds. I was going to install shorty headers in my truck but getting access to the bolts...- Bmags

I could have done that, and in fact I used to (to get rid of MDS anyways)... but it's so much nicer to just be able to hop in, put the selector in D and mash the gas pedal. I also frequently have to put the vehicle in park and reverse and pushing the steering wheel buttons every single time got...- Bmags

Depending what you are looking to achieve, just removing 8th gear like I did might be a good option too. It wouldn't help with getting heavy loads moving any quicker... but it results in the same top end engine RPM/vehicle speed ratio as you'd get if you did the 3.92 swap.- Bmags

The axle housing/hardware is the same for the trucks. With the cost of the gears alone buying something from your local salvage yard is likely the way to go. Then you just have to unbolt your setup and bolt in the new (used) assembly. You'd be able to bolt in the 3.92 front carrier and rear...- Bmags

Don’t need to be high or drunk, just need to understand physics a little better. Drone is typically associated with a specific engine RPM rather than at a specific vehicle speed. The common drone zone is around 1500rpm. 70mph down the highway in 8th gear had the truck running around 1500RPM...- Bmags
