    No play, it's solid. Its still apart, Just waiting for parts. At this point all I can do is be very careful when installing the balancer and watch clearances closely. I'd still love to hear if someone has seen this before...

    That's definitely one way it could happen, but I don't think so in this case. if you look closely at the timing cover, there is clear evidence of an arc shaped continuous rub. With a nice grinded area on the balancer where contact was being made.. I appreciate the input. Keep it coming!

    Also, there was no noticeable vibration, and the 1-1/4 bolt was super tight. It does explain my mysterious oil leak.. Haha..
