If you have a 8HP70 Trans and have had a shudder...Please tell us how you fixed it

Rick, FWIW, I had the Lubegard 8 fluid in the trans for about 9 months when the shudder started. I then did a fluid drain/fill with Valvoline Max ATF, but the shudder remained (no worse, no better). That's when I tried the Shudder Fixx.

If you have a 8HP70 Trans and have had a shudder...Please tell us how you fixed it

rickjkline, I was extremely skeptical about 'shudder fixx' and I had already picked out my new torque converter from Moe's, because I was certain it would not work. However, I was completely shocked after 24 hrs. I can't explain it...and I have no idea how long it will last, but I can confirm...

Where can I find the orifice tube on my AC?

with the AC running, grab the AC lines and note where the temperature changes from hot to cold (normally sweating). The location of the temperature change is where the orifice tube is located as the freon transitions from a high-pressure gas (hot) to a low-pressure gas (cold)

If you have a 8HP70 Trans and have had a shudder...Please tell us how you fixed it

So...I added 2 ounces of Shudder Fixx to my 8HP70 and after 24 hours, it has eliminated the shudder and locking/unlocking at cruise!!!!!!! This stuff is a miracle worker. I realize this is a temporary band-aid, but still, for $10 it bought me some time...

Has your 5.7L Hemi ever acted like this?

Rlaf75, the engine will raise RPMs by about 100. However, this week I've noticed that as the transmission reaches the 190F operating temperature, RPM dissappears.

Has your 5.7L Hemi ever acted like this?

Update.... Lately I've noticed that the transmission (8HP70) takes about 15 minutes to driving to get to its normal 190F temperature, but once it gets there, the RPM surging is either gone or unnoticeable.

Uncle Damo, thanks for the reply. My truck has the short bed, so I do not have a carrier/support bearing on my driveshaft.

8HP70 8 Speed Tranny Fluid Change - Level Truck or Level Transmission

If you must level the pan and not the truck, how in the world do tranny shops get the pan level on the lift? Leveling the transmission pan on a 8HP70 in a RAM requires the rear of the truck to be elevated by about 12", which can't be accomplished on a lift. It can only be accomplished on the...

8HP70 8 Speed Tranny Fluid Change - Level Truck or Level Transmission

If you have the ZF 8-speed tranny in your truck and you've changed trans fluid, can you tell me if you a) Leveled the truck ---- OR ----- b) Leveled the transmission? Given the angle that the trans sits in the truck, I suspect you must level the trans to get all needed fluid in per the OEM...
