    2013-2018 Gauge Cluster Disassembly

No, sorry I have‘t. It’s still sitting in a corner. Now that the weather has cooled off, I can stand it in my shed, so I’ll tackle is soon.

    Fuel Milage Drop

Replaced the plugs (again) with plugs from Rock Auto. Although I haven’t driven enough to be sure, it seems the Milage has improved significantly. It’s current at 16.8, which is far better than it was. Comments on others advice; I am running 100% synthetic oil; new oil 3 months ago. My battery...

    Fuel Milage Drop

Well it looks like I probably shot myself in the foot. I dug the old plugs and the new plug boxes out of the trash and realized they were not the same. The plugs I put in were NGK LFRAIX-11. The ones I took out were NGK LZFR5CI-11. I don’t immediately know what the difference is but it sure...

    Fuel Milage Drop

Hello, 2016 Ram 1500 Big Horn, 5.7, 160,000 miles. Recently installed new plugs. My previous average milage was 17.1 over many months of mostly rural driving. Truck runs great and I have not noticed any difference in power, acceleration, etc. Does seem to run a little smoother. HOWEVER my...

    Battery/charging/damage

So to finish up this thread; I received and installed the new fusible link assembly. 3 nuts is all you have to loosen/tighten. Once installed everything went back to normal. Charging is good. Power drain is about what others said. It does take a while for everything to go to ‘sleep’. I monitored...

    Battery/charging/damage

Thank you everyone for your input. Much appreciated. I have a new fusible link coming later today and will install that tomorrow morning. I checked the one I posted the picture of and it is indeed open. None of the auto parts stores around me had one in stock, so, good old Amazon with one day...

    Battery/charging/damage

Ya, after further research, it looks like that’s a fusible link, so that explains the no charge situation. But it doesn’t explain the battery drain…

    Battery/charging/damage

2016 Ram 1500 5.7l While working on my truck yesterday (I’ll skip the gory details) I inadvertently touched a grounded ratchet to one of the posts on the positive battery connector assembly (see pic). Didn’t think anything of it until this morning when I was treated with a dead battery. It was...

    2013-2018 Gauge Cluster Disassembly

Just an update for those of you who may be interested. I received an instrument cluster from a 2017 (one year newer than mine) RAM 1500. The correct milage was programmed in by the seller. It fit perfectly and it works perfectly. No more flashing LCD display and non-functioning oil pressure...

    2013-2018 Gauge Cluster Disassembly

So I decided to go the replacement route. I found a cluster assembly from a one year newer truck than mine. It’s guaranteed for a year and the seller will program the correct mileage into it, which is a nice bonus if you don’t have alfaODB. After I get that in, I’ll be able the take the old one...

    2013-2018 Gauge Cluster Disassembly

I do have a picture of the back. Also a couple pics of the clips. I released all 10 clips with a spudger and put guitar picks under each one so they could not re-connect. After I had all 10 released, I pried gently in several places and nothing would budge at all. Not even a hint of looseness...
