Yes, basically. I can't substantiate the "how". But the failed BDA at firewall, once replaced, caused the 8.4 screen HVAC controls to work/respond correctly. I did everything else to try and fix the original issue, this was the last ditch effort. Been working correctly for the last 30,000 miles.- darleyhavidson

Update: Had the heater core replaced, while the dash was pulled out I had local mechanic install an OEM blend door actuator that is next to firewall. Yes, in the sense that they change functions. But once any of the radio soft buttons are selected the damage is already done and no matter what hard button you select, it is 50/50 if the correct function will happen. No worries. Just wondering if I should stick with the factory 8.4 as a replacement or get the UAQ. If I go with the standard 8.4 I may run into the same problems down the road. But, the UAQ might have its own set of problems.- darleyhavidson

I am not sure what you mean by "slow". But, in my case I don't get heat when and where I. want it. For example, it was 8 degrees outside yesterday. The HVAC was blowing heat at windshield and cold air at feet. Not at all what is supposed to be occurring if I select panel vents using soft key...- darleyhavidson
