Engine Hours Reset??
Hi all. I have a 2018 1500 SLT 5.7, and apparently my engine hours reset somehow- Im not concerned, I plan on driving it till it dies, but I wasnt sure if anyone else had this happen. Ill post a pic, it was over 1600 hrs the best I can remember. Any input is appreciated, thanks.- djnelson5460

When are you folks changing your fluids?
2018 Ram 1500 4x4, Hemi, 8 speed ZF trans. I did the rear diff fluid at 25k miles and again at 75k miles, I do it every 50k as I dont tow much. Oil Change Advice
With that low of mileage you can honestly change the oil, look at the pads and rotors through the rims to make sure theyre wearing evenly, and call it good The air filter can go to 20K miles so long as you dont drive dirt roads everyday. Good solid brake rotors?
Ive used Raybestos coated rotors and hybrid pads bought through Rockauto.com and they were both very affordable and brake very well, theres very little to barely noticable dust on the wheels too- djnelson5460

How can i get better gas mileage
With the 5.7 and 6 spd trans in a 2500 you’ll never get close to 20mpg, to be brutally honest. Youd have to have the Cummins, 2wd, a better trans and 3.92 or higher gears. The cost to swap over all that isnt worth the fuel savings, if at possible with diesel being over $6/gal. Youd be better off...- djnelson5460

I put the exact same brand and model pads and rotors on my ‘18 1500 SLT last year, front and back, and couldnt be happier. They are quiet and very little to no dust on the wheels. Got em at Rockauto.com as well. Prices may be a tad higher now though- djnelson5460

What's your favorite muffler swap?
I installed a Flowmaster Flow FX on my 5.7, keeping the factory tailpipe with resonator. I had to have an addition piece of pipe added to the rear of the muffler to connect it to the tailpipe as the Flowmaster is quite a bit shorter than the factory one. How much Lubeguard Biotech
I started using Lubegard in my Hemi when it already had 25K miles or so on it, after reading forums on here. I put in one 15oz bottle of it with 6.5 quarts of oil- equals 7 quarts total. Ive put 50,000 miles on my truck with that combo changing the oil every 5k miles with no ticking or issues...- djnelson5460

Diesel’s are a superior engine, when the run correctly. If they have problems they’re expensive to repair, but don’t go by the oil life monitoring system- I would change the oil at 5k-7k miles, depending on how much you tow with it- djnelson5460

Catch Can
I installed one made by UPR Products on my ‘18 1500 5.7, and it pulls almost 1/3 quart of oil out of the PVC system during my 5000 mile OCI. I empty it every 1000 miles and the can is half full.
