Any update on this one? I just did an oil change on my 14 Ram today with 71k on it and found some glitter in my oil. My lifters were changed at 62k and this is the second oil change since then Stock cam was left because dealer said it was fine. This change had 4500 miles on it but it’s been 6...
Mine sounded like that at 62k also a 2014. Brought it into dealer and new lifters it was. They replaced one bank of lifters and assured me the cam was fine even after I said I would pay out of pocket for a new cam (work was done under warranty). I’m at 70k now and it’s a bit quieter but she...
I had my lifters replaced by ram a few weeks ago. My truck had a tick when hot that was not manifold bolt related and they tore it apart. Since my truck had 62k miles they assured me the cam was fine and had not suffered any damage yet. I even asked if I bought a new stock cam if they would just...
Anyone know if there were updates to the Hemi valvetrain to deal with the lifter and cam issues the 4th gens have? I do like the new 5th gens and I still like my 2014 Lonestar, but it did just go in and have the lifters replaced due to the common failure on the 4th gen side. If I go with a new...
Awesome. Just had mine done today on my 2014. Ram said they caught it early enough that the cam was fine and did not need replacing. I even said I’d pay for a new cam if it wasn’t covered and the service manager said not to waste money on it since it was un damaged. We will see. It should be...
My truck is in the shop getting torn down for cam and lifters possibly as well. It’s. 2014 with 62k still under powertrain warranty. I will get it fixed hopefully and drive it for a while as it’s paid off but once I’m done with it I will not be buying another Ram product.
Update on my 2014 with 62k. Running pennzoil platinum since new.
Brought my truck in for a few recalls that needed done and my drivers door switch was inop. Also asked them to look at my tick and see if manifold bolts were broken. My truck has never had broken bolts yet.
Service manager calls...
Mind giving a rough estimate of what that the labor for that 426 swap is running and maybe what the engine ran you? Curious about this for down the road. When mine pops I might be going to get it built or possibly a crate engine
I’m going to bring the truck in but will keep the recommended oil in it. Truck is under warranty and I get that people feel better because they can’t hear a tick anymore after switching oils, but if there is damage already done a heavier oil won’t change that. It’s a bandaid fix and a false...
I think my plan is to wait until my warranty is out next April and then maybe send the truck to one of the Modern Muscle Xtreme shops and have a cam and lifters put in. If I have catastrophic damage then maybe a crate Hemi from them would be a good option. My trucks paid off so I can use...
I live in New England but we have a place called nh oil undercoating. It’s basically a clear or black oil like coating that they spray everywhere underneath and in all the door and hood crevices and bumpers. Stuff is pretty messy for a few weeks but damn it works amazing. I would never put rhino...
I need to bring it to the dealer but I work 6 days a week and they are useless so far unless I leave the truck and/or pay a bunch of money to have them diagnose whatever the problem is or tell me it’s normal again
