The cylinder deactivation is a huge issue for me. I have been looking at new to me 3/4 ton trucks and Ram is never in my search because of MDS. It is an absolute deal killer for me. Frustrating because despite issues some have I like the 6.4 Hemi.- JerryETX

My best friend has a 2024 Chevy 2500 with that 6.6 gas. I know it doesn’t have the numbers the 7.3 does but I’m impressed with it. When they added the 10 speed tranny it made a world of difference. The 5.7 has plenty of issues. I don’t have a problem saying I’m not sad to see it go. But based on the pattern I’ve noticed I don’t believe the 3.0L hurricane will be any more reliable. That’s just me. Hopefully I’m wrong.- JerryETX

There are millions that would disagree with Ford fixing most of the Ecoboost issues. Ford has so many engines with cam phaser failures they couldn’t afford to do a recall. I don’t the frequency of the occurrence but it’s happened enough for them to initiate the recall. For me I find value in using the same business for service because when it comes time to use my extended warranty they will be more likely to stand up to the extended warranty company when they deny a claim (most always do at some point). Good question yes they did and of course installed a new trans pan gasket. Also in the diffs they pulled the covers, drained all oil and installed new cover gaskets.- JerryETX

Actually I’ve found its opposite. My dealer is around $170/hr on service work. There are 3 ASE certified mechanic shops in my town and all 3 are at least $200/hr for any type of work. Too Expensive?
I have a 2016 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi 6 speed 4x4. Took it in to the dealer for transmission and differential service. Total was $726 and that was after a $44 discount. Does this sound high? OP welcome! Times have drastically changed in the auto industry. You no longer have to consider MSRP it’s more like 5k off. Interest rates are still stupid unless you can go 36 months which is why I would recommend waiting as long as you can to buy. I got a good call the other day from a dealer...- JerryETX

Interesting no offense but I hope that’s not correct. I’m no engineer but I can’t see a 3.0L engine holding up to HD duty cycles. Sure they can put bigger turbos on the HD’s that can handle the work load but you still have a 3.0L engine. In my opinion this would be a disastrous move for Ram HD...- JerryETX
