8HP75 Fluid Change and PPE Pan experience

Another fluid option is the Pentosin ATF 8 available from Rock Auto. I've been using it in my 1500 with the 8HP70 with good results.

    Coolant flush at dealer

Glad I found this post. I'm getting ready to take my 2014 1500 in for a "service airbag system" warning and I'm planning to have them do a coolant flush and change at the same time. I too look at my coolant and it sure looks orange to me but when I was at the dealer several months ago inquiring...

    Iridium plugs???

I replaced my stock plugs at approx 70k as I noticed it started to take a few more seconds and several more turns of the starter before it fired up. I used NGK Rutheniums purchased from Rock Auto. I have about 35k on them now with no issues and I noticed a definite improvement overall. Might...

    Towing

Sure, you may be able to tow it ok, but will you be able to stop it ok. It's more than an insurance issue. https://cdllife.com/2021/pickup-drivers-overweight-load-and-brake-failure-believed-to-have-caused-double-fatality-crash-in-carson-city/

    Coolant mixture

based on this chart, my 2014 should use the Dex-Cool. Are you suggesting I should use the G-40? what's not on this chart is what in my understanding from the dealer the purple g-30 is what's recommended. https://www.valvolineglobal.com/en/zerex-g30-antifreeze-coolant/ Not trying to make...

    Coolant mixture

is there a block drain on the 5.7? If so, where? also, I'm planning to do a coolant x-change on mine soon. the dealer says my 2014 takes the purple G40 coolant but it's the orange type in it now. was there TSB for this change for a 2014? TIA

Another can I tow this. Lol

I agree with others that eliminating squat is beneficial but not at the expense of hiding an overweight and out of spec condition. As others have suggested, take it to a scale when you have it fully loaded with your planned gear and make sure it's in spec's. Here is the link to the towing chart...

    8hp70 shifting issue.

I agree, the process is what it is and a dipstick would make things easier. But now that I have figured out what I need to get the transmission level (floor jack, jack stands, wooden platforms for the jackstands, chocking the front wheels), using an electric suction pump and where to purchase...

    8hp70 shifting issue.

FWIW - I had my pan and fluid changed by a local shop at around 70k miles. I purchased online a factory Mopar pan and filter combo and 7 qrts of the ZF 8-speed fluid. The shop said they replaced about 6.5 qrts of the 7qrts I gave them. I immediately noticed a slightly different shift pattern...

ZF 8 speed transmission fluid change

I posted this earlier to another ZF fluid thread but then found this more recent thread. I’m getting ready to refresh my 8HP70 fluid and was searching for different fluids. I noticed Rock Auto offers the factory Mopar fluid as well as Pentosin. I’ve used Pentosin in the past in a 2000 VW...

    8 speed transmission fluid

Glad I found this and sorry for reviving this old thread but I’m getting ready to refresh my 8HP70 fluid and was searching for different fluids. I noticed Rock Auto offers the factory Mopar fluid as well as Pentosin. I’ve used Pentosin in the past in a 2000 VW Westfalia with good results and...

Glad to hear you made it back safe!

Weigh in, for a long haul. What do you think?

I agree. Not for base weights or payloads for exactly the reasons you mentioned. The important weights are the gross weights for the respective vehicle configuration - e.g. crew cab - 5'7" box, 4x2 with 3.21 ratio, 5.7hemi and A6 65RFE transmission has a GCWR of 12,350 lbs versus that same truck...

Weigh in, for a long haul. What do you think?

I'm not saying he's over. I'm just providing the chart so he can determine himself where he's at and capable of. My comment about being liable if he's overweight was just as an FYI. Last year a guy was coming down a local pass, severely overloaded, and lost his brakes resulting in two...

Weigh in, for a long haul. What do you think?

Attached is the trailing towing chart from Ram for your model year. Scroll down to the last couple of pages and find your exact crew cab model configuration and then look at the weights. Not to be a "rain on your parade" type of guy while you're on an epic trip, but anything outside of the...
