Another fluid option is the Pentosin ATF 8 available from Rock Auto. I've been using it in my 1500 with the 8HP70 with good results.- jh90731

Coolant flush at dealer
Glad I found this post. I'm getting ready to take my 2014 1500 in for a "service airbag system" warning and I'm planning to have them do a coolant flush and change at the same time. Iridium plugs???
I replaced my stock plugs at approx 70k as I noticed it started to take a few more seconds and several more turns of the starter before it fired up. I used NGK Rutheniums purchased from Rock Auto. is there a block drain on the 5.7? If so, where? also, I'm planning to do a coolant x-change on mine soon. the dealer says my 2014 takes the purple G40 coolant but it's the orange type in it now. was there TSB for this change for a 2014? TIA- jh90731

I agree with others that eliminating squat is beneficial but not at the expense of hiding an overweight and out of spec condition. As others have suggested, take it to a scale when you have it fully loaded with your planned gear and make sure it's in spec's. Here is the link to the towing chart...- jh90731

I agree, the process is what it is and a dipstick would make things easier. But now that I have figured out what I need to get the transmission level (floor jack, jack stands, wooden platforms for the jackstands, chocking the front wheels), using an electric suction pump and where to purchase...- jh90731

8hp70 shifting issue.
FWIW - I had my pan and fluid changed by a local shop at around 70k miles. I purchased online a factory Mopar pan and filter combo and 7 qrts of the ZF 8-speed fluid. The shop said they replaced about 6.5 qrts of the 7qrts I gave them. I immediately noticed a slightly different shift pattern...- jh90731

I agree. Not for base weights or payloads for exactly the reasons you mentioned. The important weights are the gross weights for the respective vehicle configuration - e.g. crew cab - 5'7" box, 4x2 with 3.21 ratio, 5.7hemi and A6 65RFE transmission has a GCWR of 12,350 lbs versus that same truck...- jh90731
