I never was able to get it to communicate. Turns out the wheel was a 2012, and it seems the 2011 1500 is somewhat of a unicorn and doesn’t play well with swaps of newer electronics. I ended up going back to stock and sold the 1500 because I picked up a 2500 Cummins.
Update:
Put it in the shop and I opted for a complete (new) turbo replacement.
Now I have a question about the exhaust brakes. Previously I could push the exhaust brake button and here was a discernible sound and slowing down. Now there isn’t. I was worried they put the wrong turbo in and had...
Turbo does spin up. No smoke other than at that one moment. After I shut off the exhaust brake, haven’t had any more smoke, and just a slight loss of power when accelerating out of a turn.
I’ve got it scheduled to go into a trusted shop, but they re scheduled out a couple weeks unfortunately...
Reading up on P2262 that seems to be the likely culprit, thought I would ask the more experienced guys here. It’s a 2011 with 230k on it and as far as I know it’s the original turbo.
Newish to diesels. I’ve had my ‘11 2500 for about 1-1/2 years.
I‘ve been getting an occasional CEL code P2262 (Turbo boost pressure not detected), but no other symptoms. The other day it also threw a P226C (Turbocharger boost control). Again, no other symptoms.
Tonight while exiting a traffic...
Changed from a non EVIC to an EVIC cluster and correct steering wheel. Couldn’t get the EVIC buttons to work no matter how many times I tried. Followed the directions exactly. gave up and removed them both. Set it back to stock and bought a 201 2500 Cummins instead!
Edit: this was a reply to...
Cruise does actually still work, but no EVIC or Radio button functions do. Also, one major issue is the horn sounds and doesn’t stop! I’m sure my neighbor were getting irritated with all the times I set it off trying to get it to work.
Pulling my hair at this point. I now have a correct 2011 wheel with the EVIC buttons and radio controls buttons. I have set Remote Steering Wheel Switches to ”set” using AlfaOBD. None of the buttons work and cruise won’t turn on anymore either.
The two wires have been cut and spliced correctly...
That seems to be the case. I read in other threads that up to a 2012 would work, but real life experience says no.
I got smart and figured the basic owners manual would show that wheel if it was an option and it did not. The 2012 manual does. So I ordered a 2011 wheel with EVIC buttons. I guess...
I was pretty sure it is off a 2012. That’s what the seller said anyway. I’m now starting to wonder if it is a newer one, but I thought the wiring plugs changed in 2013? So I’m not 100% certain.
After extensive searching and reading, I’m starting to wonder if I simply have the wrong year wheel? This is what I installed, can anyone confirm if this style wheel and switches will work in a 2011? Or am I stuck getting one with only EVIC controls and cruise still on the little stalk under the...
Also, can’t seem to find the AlfaOBD menu option to correct the mileage. The new cluster has significantly less miles and I need to update it to actual mileage.
