ICBC writes off 2022 EV due to cost of battery replacement

This same crap story keeps getting reposted everywhere, and many people are too stupid to understand that it's ONE story about ONE car in Canada. But as people continue reading it on Facebook, they regurgitate it on a different forum. And then someone else grabs it and posts it somewhere else...

2017 Uconnect Android Auto & Apple Carplay

Can you give us a rundown of how it works? Is it just plugging in a harness? How was the installation? Do you change the source to be able to access touchscreen controls (climate, radio, Sirius, etc)?

    Pre-winter Maintenance - What's On Your List?

    I don't do anything.

Extended warranty at time of purchase for diesel or no?

Most people are far too dense to understand this, especially the last paragraph. I don't buy extended warranties on anything, and in the last 37 years of vehicle ownership, I have never had an instance where I regretted it. So if you add up all of the money I would have wasted on extended...

Oil Life Screen - incorrect mileage reported

65, 535 as a number has significance - it's the max unsigned value that can be represented with 16 bits. Something just isn't initialized yet, so no biggie.

    Warranty issues you'd think

I too live in an area with salted roads in the winter, and spend $15 at the car wash a few times during the winter to wash all the salt off the underbody. This seems to make a difference, as mine's a year older with more miles and no serious rust. I didn't bother with any sort of coating. They...

    The Impossible Tire Question

One could argue you were indeed one of the smart ones. The stock SRA's that came on my truck were fine. No, they aren't the best tires to ever exist on the planet, however they were good enough for 30,000 miles. I'd love someone to explain to me how it would be "smarter" to ditch those to...

Brand new 2023 Limited catastrophic transmission failure at 1200 miles

Keep in mind that the OP had a "new" transmission in the "new" truck and that's what failed. So a reman isn't as bad as it sounds and a new one isn't as good as it sounds. :) And I know that the "talk to my lawyer" phrase always sounds tough, but have you read what the warranty actually says...

    Oil Change frequency

I live dangerously. I wait until the dash tells me to change it. I do that on my 2017 Ram, and prior to that I did it on my Ridgeline. Before having a vehicle that kept track of it, I just changed at 5k miles since it was easy to remember. What some people call "peace of mind" or "cheap...

What’s your favorite flavor of cordless tools?

I think one of the best Ryobi purchases I made was their one-handed reciprocating saw. It's so convenient to be able to hold it in one hand and steady what you are sawing in the other. I wouldn't use it for big jobs, but for little stuff it's very handy.

What’s your favorite flavor of cordless tools?

I use Ryobi. Say what you want about them, but they've stuck with the same battery platform, so older stuff will still work. They are relatively inexpensive, and have a huge selection of tools. The combination of lithium batteries and brushless motors gives far better battery life. Plus they are...

New-to-me truck at the dealer. Again!

So it's ok for you, the buyer, not to notice the rear wheel, but how how dare Carmax not notice? Glad they're doing right by you, but if neither you nor them noticed it, I wouldn't hold that against them.

Are 2022 Exhaust manifolds still an issue?

You can still get parts for the 318 which they quit putting in trucks twenty years ago! And it's not even FCA anymore. I'll start worrying in the year 2042.

    Oil pressure varying….concerned

While I'm not condoning being ignorant, I figure that I can own things, or have things own me. I get the oil changed when the indicator gets down to 10% or so, and it's done at the dealership or at a valvoline. Don't let perfection get in the way of good enough. Am I confident the best oil is...

Pentastar vs Hemi, which should you choose?

Having had both, if I didn't have to tow a heavy 21' walkaround boat, I would have stayed with the Gen 1 Ridgeline I had. Quiet inside, comfortable, handles really well, has a higher payload than people realize, plenty of storage, and a reliable engine. There's another guy in my town who has...
