Deb and i are still making progress on this big old 97. Well i jacked up the right front tire and opened up the cad. I had to lift the axle slightly to get the collar to line up with the intermediate axle, set the fork to 4wd and reassembled. None of the dash lights work so i climbed a hill that...
I have 5 , 2nd gen rams. The 95 work truck ive ive had for 10 years. I've always got the oil change thats on sale no matter what brand ,and bought the cheap oil at dollar general to top it off.. just got home from a 20 mile drive and heading out for a 40 mile one way in the morn. Ive always went...
Totally agree . The prices for new trucks makes it simple to restore old ones. Deb and i have 5 2nd gens and like today we did the top to bottom on the 98 becouse were going to the keys to pick up a boat next week. We didnt spend $50,000 to do it either becouse we take care of them. Ya i would...
I found a little info searching threads but really would like more. If anyone has done a dash swap from 98 plus to 97 or less i would sure like to get the run down on it or if there is a better thread that explains it i would sure like to find it thx
One case snapped in half the other busted at the mounting point. Looks like i need a new one. Or can i purchase a new case and build a new one with what i have
Well deb and i did get the tranny out of the 01 and into the 97. The trans temp and overdrive light were always on. Found a thread that said new solenoid and temp sensor or ecm. Got the ecm from the 01 and all is good. Thx for the help.
So we want to move the dash from the 01 to the 97...
Just something to check. I have found that the wiring harness, located just above your left foot when in the driver seat , likes to lay on the sharp metal edge of the lower section of the dash. The sharp edge can cut any number of wires and cause any number of shorts and problems.
I was just thinking becouse im getting ready to do the valve stem seals on my 95. The 98 started showing oil at start up but has other issues , likes to die. Idle drops to low and dies. The only things left are the cam sensor and intake. If you saying oil can enter through the plenum gasket and...
Im 56 years old and and never paid a mechanic in my life. So ive always wanted to hobby in trucks and love the second gen dodges. As a matter of fact there is like a 50 50 chance i pulled the transmission case out of the diecast machine becouse i worked 12 hours a day at the kokomo die casting...
Sorry i meant 97 oops. So im buying old dodges w bad trannys. Ill be an expert soon enough but right now i have a tranny out of a 01. The transfer case busted and also busted the housing behind it. We always called it the tail shaft on the 2wd but its between the tranny and the transfer case...
