Thanks. I think it was the cylinder deactivation that was causing the problem on my half ton. I don’t know if the 6.4 or 5.7 in the heavy duties had the cylinder deactivation but I really don’t like the system in any truck. I had all work done at the dealership on my half ton and was religious...
I thought about looking at another diesel. I had a 6.7 power stroke and we still have a 5.9 Cummins and 7.3 power stroke in the family. I’d much rather have a gas truck these days. My truck will only see about 3-5k miles a year. With the cost of maintenance, fuel prices and the amount of miles...
It’s been a couple years since I posted. I sold my ram when the dealer wouldn’t address my lifter issues. I’m in another half ton but am looking at getting a 3/4 ton. I loved my ram until it started having issues. I wanted to ask if the 6.4 had the same cam and lifter failures as my 5.7 did...
Just updating this thread. The dealer said they couldn’t reproduce the noise I heard and had recorded on video. The truck now as 31700 miles and I just replaced the factory tires with hankook dynapro at2.
The truck is back in the shop today with tapping and rough idle. Hopefully they actually...
I’ve had trifolds. They are ok and easy to put on and take off but I haul a lot and they get in the way.
We were talking about the softopper which is kind of a hybrid I guess. It’s like a cap but it folds Down giving access to the entire bed and can keep large items out if the weather not just...
I’ll probably stick with black since my door handles are black. I’ll have to wait a couple months now. I just had to buy new tires. I went with hankook dynapro at2’s so we will see how this new tire works out. The stock set was low and they were bad enough i was loosing traction in light rain.
I’m most likely going to pick up a softopper some time this summer. Thanks for all the info and reviews guys. Now I just have to decide what color goes best with a white quad cab ram. Black or tan?
thanks, that’s a lot of useful information. If it holds up well for a few years I’d be happy. I could probably buy 2-3 of those softoppers for the price of a Fiberglas cap. I called about aluminum around here and they were about 1500 with fiberglass being around 2k I believe. I like the...
Crash68, yes that’s exactly what I was looking at.
averageguy, I am tempted to get a fiberglass or aluminum cap and trailer but that is very expensive. I guess I could Just continue to save up
Thanks TomB 1269. That’s what I was looking for. There’s not a ton online about them. I’d go with a regular cap but they are generally pretty expensive
Thanks I’m looking for the softopper, it’s like a cap
But canvas. I was gonna get another tonneau cover but I use the bed quite a bit for large items and firewood. I’d also like to
Put my dogs kennel back there for hunting season. There’s just not enough room in a quad cab once his kennel is in...
I see a few of you have a softopper. How do you like it? Does it keep everything in the bed dry? Would you recommend it? I have a white quad cab and am thinking about ordering one this summer. TIA.
