Earth magnets on oil filter
Hi, why are you having high wear numbers? Isn't redline supposed to prevent that? And why do you need a magnet? Isn't high quality filter like rp should catch all that? Thx!- Kap1

Odd Ticking noise
Could be the broken exhaust manifold bolts that you know your truck has. When engine warms up, the seal may expand and it'll stop making sound, but if you accelerate, maybe it continues to leak under load. Or maybe more bolts are starting to break under load etc... Could be anything really...- Kap1

Cost to Replace Cam and Lifters on 5.7L
Depends where you're located... $11k to replace cam, lifters, water pump from a reputable shop. In SF, CA There's also a risk of cam and lifters not work well if mechanic isn't experienced in this particular job I decided not to do it... And got new truck instead.- Kap1

2015 Lifter failure?
Does this mean that it doesn't matter what kind of oil you use, and your truck either will have lifters cam issue early anyway or will last to 190k miles?- Kap1

5.7 Hemi Replacement
Jasper has mixed reviews from what I saw. Some are not good. Again, it's a lot of risk to do this job for shops, and they want to cover themselves, and get good engine, with good warranty. Otherwise they can make more money on easy brake jobs... I get that other trucks may have issues too...- Kap1

I was in this same situation with my 2013 120k miles. My mechanic who does work with lots of hemi quoted me $11k to replace cam and lifters, some more stuff while in there... Or with new engine it probably would be around $15k. It depends on your area and how expensive the shop is. You can shop...- Kap1

Cracked Head from exhaust bolt repair!? HELP!
Had dealership do broken manifold bolts under warranty. They damaged head when trying to extract the bolt, send it to machine shop to re thread it, finished the job, then two days later it broke again so I brought it back to dealership, they had to replace the head this time... Well... I'm just trying to confirm what kind of oil dealership puts into my engine... So I do want oil to be clean. I don't entirely trust dealership, they can pour good oil for my test sample but pump blend into my new truck (hopefully not lol but who knows!) My engine now has 3k miles...- Kap1

By the way, I don't understand why Ram doesn't have a mechanic on YouTube like Toyota Car Care Nut (I linked above) who would go in depth on technical reviews of engines, and really get to the bottom of these cam lifter failures, track patterns and explain community the true reasons behind it.- Kap1

Hi Burla, 1. I'm not sure if I regret prepaid, it was $1300 for up to 80k miles, 5k tire rotations oil changes. Which also includes spark plugs and other misc items like air filters etc. So it's not a bad deal. I can still cancel it... But I do like my local SF Toyota dealership. At the...- Kap1
