1500 vs 2500 for towing travel trailer (downhill)

I have a 32' travel trailer with a 6500 lbs dry weight... even though your trailer will be slightly smaller, you will have a 100% better towing experience with a 2500 vs a 1500. Even just driving down a flat straight stretch of highway, you'll feel a difference as soon as the wind starts...

Rookie towing question. Weigh station requirements.

We've towed our 32' travel trailer through something like 29 different states and never stopped at a weigh station. There was only one place where, looking at the signs, it seemed like they might want RV's to stop?!? Either way, we just drove past and never had any issues.

    Ready, set, GO!!!!

Is Yahoo trying to get people killed? I own a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH (the exact camper in the article). I've towed it all over the country with my 2500 6.4 Hemi. No issues whatsoever. But those small SUV's listed in the article? That's just an accident waiting to happen. Like others...

    Weight Distribution Hitch

We live in our RV fulltime and tow it to a new location every week. We've been running the Anderson WD Hitch and love it. After you've set it up the first time, it's easy to hook up and disconnect. No clunky bars to mess with, it's more lightweight overall, don't need to disconnect anything...

    Towing Camping Trailer

I have a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH, which is just longer than the rig you’re talking about. No way would I want to tow it with a 1500. Like others have said, your 1500 could do the job, but it wouldn’t be a good experience. Especially if you’re talking cross country road trips. Our 2500 (6.4...

    Towing Mileage Comparison / Questions

I've been towing a 32' approx 7000lb trailer (Grand Design Imagine 2800BH) across the country from national park to national park with a 2021 2500 6.4 Hemi and I love the combination. We've been up and down the east coast, around the Gulf Coast, across the southwest, and are headed north now...

    White night edition…yah or nah?

Our 2500 is white with the night edition package. It's a beast. Nothing feminie about it and we get a lot of compliments about how slick it looks. Plus it matches our camper. The truck and camper combo looks great going down the road together.

Towing a camper with my 2017 Ram 1500 hemi for the first time. What can I expect?

Agreed with many of the previous posts. With your current setup, you will be whiteknuckling it for 200 miles. The front end of your truck is going to be too light and wanting to wander in your lane. You'll be constantly making little corrections, fighting to keep it straight, etc... Like...

What equipment makes towing/ camping easier?

I picked up an Andersen Trailer Jack Block and a set of their EZ Blocks for the 4 corner scissor jacks. I've seen people hauling around all kinds of wood, cinder blocks, etc... to put under their jacks. The blocks from Andersen are incredibly lightweight and tall enough that we don't need to...

Cannot decide on ordering a new 2500

I vote order it exactly the way you and your wife want it! We went through the factory order experience in 2021; you can find my full rundown of the process, time, costs, etc... on the post I made called Factory Order - My Full Experience & Timeline In terms of trade in, we did trade in my old...

Factory Order - My Full Experience & Timeline

We bought a Honda Ridgeline for my wife through Faulker Honda in Harrisburg. We had a good experience there, but we didn't factory order, just bought it off the lot. Good luck with the new truck!

I used Heritage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. They provided fairly regular updates. Maybe not as often as I would like, but whenever there was something to report.

All Rams have a standard 'destination charge'. If I remember correctly, this is a fee ($1,695?) that Ram uses to account for delivery costs of getting the truck from the factory to the dealer. The destination charge is the same for all dealers to help spread the cost out evenly. Some dealers...

Factory Order - My Full Experience & Timeline

I was told the same thing; the price we agreed to before ordering was locked in, but incentives from FCA were subject to availability upon delivery of the vehicle. We basically did not account for any incentives/special financing when ordering. We ended up getting an extra $500 'cash' towards...
