That was Valvoline synthetic 5W-30 in the silver/ gray bottle. Not conventional. I bought that car new in '98 and serviced it myself throughout the 22 years of ownership. I swapped out the LS1 for a factory LS6 as one of my retirement projects.
This was the oil pan from the LS1 engine out of my '98 Firebird Formula after 125K miles. I used Valvoline 5W-30 and did oil changes at regular 5000 mile intervals. I was shocked at the varnish/ soot coating on the inside of the oil pan.
I have 52K miles on my 2500 Ram HD with the 6.4L and I'm...
I installed my window last Thursday. The hardest part of the job was cleaning out all the broken glass from inside the door and there was quite a bit of it. I don't think Safelite would've taken the time to do that and I would've had to listen to out of tune maracas going down these bumpy...
wholesalemopar.com cancelled the order because they don't ship glass. Another website online had glass in stock but stated local pickup only. For now I've had to go with non-oem glass. I'll start working on it later this morning.
I called a local dealership in the high desert yesterday. There is no door window glass available in Southern Calif. For as many Ram trucks as there are on the road I find this absolutely ridiculous. I ordered a door window from wholesalemopar.com. We'll see how long that takes.
I watched two YouTube videos and I feel confident about the window replacement. It's just the cost that's difficult due to a senior's fixed income. I'm fortunate I can still do this kind of work. I'm definitely going with OEM glass.
I'm going to need some help. I'm a GM guy for the last fifty years and I still work on my own vehicles. Last night my driver's side door window was shattered in a smash and grab. I don't know if the alarm went off or not. This happened in a senior residence so noises may not have been heard...
When I hit 65 I had decisions to make and one of them involved a new HD truck. I've been GM all my life and I thought the new Chevy's were ugly. I just couldn't see looking at one all the time. I've been pleasantly surprised at the gas mileage this big truck gets considering the HD nature of...
My old Chevy K1500 EC didn't suit my needs for a tow vehicle. I knew I wanted an 8' bed but didn't want to drive a bus (CC) around. My regular cab suits my needs and actually has quite a bit of storage behind the seats even with my long legged 6'3" height. My 6.4L engine actually gets better...
I've owned my truck since new and I have 42K miles on the odo at this time. I think the 13-14 mpg I get is a gift. Years ago during my working career I had a Chev 2500HD utility truck with a 6.0L engine. That truck got 10 mpg no matter the driving conditions were. I have no complaints at all...
I would think with your expertise you could submit a bill for labor and parts that were the actual costs to repair your own vehicle. You have documented proof of sloppy, inept work by the dealer grease monkeys. They aren't techs by any sense of the word. I had a similar situation with my GM...
I'll tell ya, I'm kinda tired of the bumpy ride I get with my 18's on desert roads. I was reading that the Power Wagons come with 17's and I think I want to go that route with an all-purpose tire when the time comes...soon.
