My current truck ('21 Laramie) and previous ('19 Big Horn) both had a coolant smell when hot. Both cases were the radiator hoses. They don't leak, but for whatever reason they smell like coolant when hot.
Pretty sure the ZF has a 50-75k service interval depending on use. More towing means changing closer to the 50k side.
I don't tow as often so I shoot for 75k.
Had a small lurch on my '19 Big Horn when going to drive from either reverse or park. Upgraded to a '21 Laramie last year and it doesn't have that issue at all.
The dealership was able to reprogram my old transmission which seemed to help.
If I know I'm going to be pulling anything substantial I always use 93. A few thousand pounds or less and 89 seems to be fine.
I like to run 89 all the time but I've been using 87 lately with fuel prices being as bad as they are. I don't regularly tow anything over 1k lbs so it works alright...
I've driven a handful of 1500's w/ the 5.7 over the years and some definitely ping more than others. I currently drive a '21 w/o e-torque and it does ping a little on harder acceleration with 87. Anything under half throttle and it's not really noticeable. My previous Ram was a '19 w/...
My issue is the front driveshaft. It sounded like the starter not disengaging properly, but I hopped under the truck to get a video and noticed the driveshaft issue. I ended up bringing it to the dealer. After some investigating they noticed that the transfer case locks up as part of the...
I've got 45k on my stock Goodyear's. 2019 Big Horn with 18's.
Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is braking while turning. My brother has a bad habit of waiting until he's in a turn to brake (sometimes very hard). This will definitely cause some premature wear over 25k miles on a heavy...
I have that same issue on my '19. Rubber and coolant smell from the front of the truck. I've checked for leaks multiple times but found nothing.
I'm at 43k miles now and no signs of going away. Don't know that they'll cover it under warranty at this point so just hoping it goes away...
I've got a 2019 Big Horn 4x4 e-torque with 3.21 gears. I drive the speed limit most of the time and consistently get 25 mpg on the highway (hand calculated). Anything over 65 mph is exponentially worse. 70 mph usually averages 21-22. It seems like 65 is the sweet spot for me. I average...
I went from a 2012 1500 w/ hydraulic power steering to a 2019 1500 w/ electronic rack. The old style rack could accommodate the larger filter, but I believe you have the use the smaller filter with the electrically assisted rack.
It's so much more difficult to change the filter on the new...
I've noticed a bit of spark knock on 87, especially with MDS active. I usually run 89 or 93 and don't notice any knock with either. Slight MPG increase but definitely not going to break even vs. using 87. Long term it's better for the engine if it's not knocking so I'll play it safe.
I have a 2019 Big Horn with e-torque. It definitely has the least invasive stop-start that I've ever driven. I really like that it doesn't use the starter which increases wear substantially. I don't know that I really save all that much fuel in town, but I do feel it working in low speed...
