Take your time with the dremel and you will be just fine. If you cut into the hub by mistake it is not the end of the world. Just clean it up with some emery cloth and install the new bearing.
Most of the time when you get close to the hub the bearing will start turning color from the heat...
FI Airgaps are (were?) available. Got one for my 5.9 last week of June. Going to install it sometime this fall along with a cam that I have not decided on yet.
Just to clear, your truck will start itself automatically? As in the starter will turn the engine over? Just want to understand this part.
Unless it is an internal pcm issue, it sounds like a classic bad ground. Might be an easy fix

2003 ram 1500 slt quad cab 5.9 magnum. I have cleaned most of the grounds on the truck. Last week I had the front dashboard covers off and took the time to clean the grounds in there. Do you know where the ground for the cluster is? Your theory makes sense. Thank you!
