So my 2015 Ram 1500 (Laramie) is having an air-conditioning problem. I just took the truck for a quick errand and tried to replicate the issue. Here is what happened:
Turn on truck, wait for console to boot up, blast AC on full, after 5-10 seconds it cuts off. Not more air, no noises, nothing...
It will most definitely not be driven all the time. Quite the opposite. I think we have a scanner, but I believe it is a fairly basic one. I know they (esp ones that could tell you codes that have been cleared) are crazy expensive. So that makes investing in that really tough.
Oh absolutely...
80k miles doesn't seem that bad. 40k miles from new ('15) to '17, and 40k miles more from '17 to now. Itt was in Alberta which is huge open flat prairie land. So high mileage but flat highway miles. Also if I get it, I'll be using it sparingly when only a truck is needed. So it will go from high...
The manifold bolts yes, though I'm not 100% on some factors. Like, are the replacement bolts used by dealerships known to break in the future as well, or has Chrysler fixed the problem with the new bolts? How expensive is the bolt replacement and installation for you guys when you've had it done...
Yeah, the plan currently is (assuming all goes well) to offer $1k less than asking, in part because we will be getting an extended warranty from them with Dodge. I'm definitely aware that it either has 3 months left on its warranty or no warranty at all (maybe Chrysler isn't honoring warranties...
Absolutely. Thank you. The dealership provides access to the trucks Carfax online (here it is in fact) and it looks good.
Good advice about checking all the buttons! I don't think I would have done that completely had you not mentioned it. I am buying it from a well respected dealership but...
So I'm in the situation from the title and I want to go into my first visit and test drive at the dealership as knowledgeable as possible as to what to look, listen and feel for. Who better to ask than y'all?
I already know to look for rust in certain key areas. I also know the basics about...
Yes! I'm currently looking at Northwest Motorsports and so much of their inventory I've looked at for Rams is originally from Canada!

Thanks. I'm not really worried about salt or anything from its time in WA (which looks to be relatively short). I'm more worried about the majority of its life spent in Alberta Canada. Will definitely still take your advice as to what to check.
Well that's really good to hear about your...
Thanks! So if isn't rust or it is very minimal (I'm assuming very minimal is acceptable...) then they likely paid mindful attention to the fact that their salted roadways would damage the undercarriage of their truck, right?
So I am potentially in the market for a newer Ram than what I've got already. I've got a 2004 2500 crew cab 8 foot bed Ram. In this scenario I'd be looking to sell it and replace it with something like a 2013-2015 1500 (6'5 bed, crew cab). The one I own is more truck than I need both in power...
