What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Long time no post. Dropped mine off to get the 5.7l plenum, short valve, and short valve actuator replaced since mine failed. I still think these fail because of the plastic upper as well as in my case, lack of hard driving. Like you casually wind the vane day after day in normal driving only so...

    Truck tug of war

In for the laughs because this kind of crap is what keeps me employed doing parts.

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Sweet! I keep promising to make us an adirondack BENCH with an old PowerWagon gate and what's left of an ArtMorrison frame shipping crate we have sitting around since there's Plenty of 2x4's and 2x6's to choose from. :D

    Spark Plug Shenanigans

A lot of people end up replacing their iridiums at 65,000-80,000 because the iridiums just do not last as expected. Also having iridium initially and gone to copper I can say for me, with California style fuel, the copper runs better. I changed to copper before I hit 40k. YMMV

    how to disable air bags

Without openly posting the answer as it realistically skirts forum rules and puts me at liability stateside I’ll just say this... ..look at your Owner’s Manual. The list of fuses is right there and just as the one to disable traction control when off-road is a known so it the air bag...

    My truck attracts weirdos

OP, you do have an avenue of resolution. "Yes, hello, is this Alberta CMP? Yes, do I have to fill something out here https://www.alberta.ca/report-a-concern-about-driver-fitness.aspx or can I just call in Alberta plate C0D7916, black lifted Chevy pickup? I can, cool, there's a video up also...

My Mechanic Could Have Killed Me

True but the mechanic is also not gonna catch a break. To have let that go and end up on the road ultimately shows ineptitude. If it was as common a problem as the lie indicated then MarshRam would have gotten the call saying the component was not safe and needed to be replaced PRIOR to it...

If you could have ANY truck, what would it be.

No picture necessary, everyone here should know what I speak of, if not you soon will. Icon D-200 Crew Cab Reformer in Gubmint Green, Johnathan and his crew of wizards checked off any box I would have marked.

My Mechanic Could Have Killed Me

*Pistons rarely crack or fail from normal use. It happens but it’s rare.**If you go all Samsonite Ape on the pistons pushing/compressing them in wrong they fracture from the stress riser the tool or a crooked plate tool or backwards pad causes. Even pressing down on a reversed pad that has...

My Mechanic Could Have Killed Me

Only to provide added insight without pointing fingers. The only additional steps I add to any brake job that has not already been described in a post listing steps prior is before I flip the old pads around so as to safely press the pistons is I fully clean down the calipers, including a scrub...

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Some factory plugs come with a harness end adapter that simply pops off and transfers over to the other style of connector. Try seeing if it has that first.

    The Base Model? Maybe Not.

@TexRam555 Here’s why. Quad cabs look better. Have a longer bed. Not everyone needs a Crew Cab.
