Ball Joints After 42K miles?
I had the front end on my one ton Ford rebuilt at 160k miles by my favorite independent shop. They used quality parts with grease fittings. Good for another 200 k miles.- ppine

New truck prices are insane
Don't get seduced by snappy optoins. I like one model above the Tradesman. Vehicles last a long time now, especially with a diesel and decent care. My last truck a Ford lasted over 20 years, and was worth 1/2 what I paid for it.- ppine

Oil Consumption-Can Anything Be Done?
You have just made the case for owning a diesel. You are at the mileage point when gas engines start to get tired. Diesels don't even notice that kind of mileage. The $10k up front is hardly noticeable.- ppine

It is likely that your engine is showing signs of wear and getting close to the end of its life. Rings would be the obvious problem. Do you have any smoke on start up? In the old days we ran STP in worn engines and straight 40 weight oil. For Arizona your oil is too thin. Keep trying some...- ppine

Longhorn Dashboard Delamination
I live in Nevada, land of severe clear. The first thing we do when getting a new vehicle is put a dash over on it to protect from UV rays. fixing a dash costs a lot. -

Easy-on and off seat covers?
I have some Duluth Trading Co seat covers in my Ram. It is hard to fit the straps on the lower part of the seat. It moves around some, but it is easy to add and remove. Around $100 for a pair. -

shut er down. There is a reason there is a warning sign on every gas pump in America. Diesel fuel is less explosive than gas but plenty dangerous. Ammonium nitrate and diesel fuel is a common explosive. Diesels have no spark plugs, but it is still best to shut them down. Ram cautions...- ppine

Engine Temp Normal?
Check your thermastat. In Wyoming it is a common practice to put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator in winter to increase the engine operating temperature in the cold. We take them out in the spring.- ppine

2020 Ram 1500 classic 6 in lift and 37’s what’s the best gear ratio to run with this setup??
It's a Jeep thing. Glad people from the cult of Jeep chimed in. Driving on the highway at 3000 rpms is not my idea of a good time. It is way too much like riding in the old trucks. Unless you haul it on a trailer, you have to get there first. -

3:21 rear vs 3:92 gas mileage?
For a truck you are much better off with 3.92s. My first 1/2 ton truck was back in the 1970s. It was great except it came with 3.07 gears. Even pulling a 2 horse trailer was hard on the clutch. I sold it and never bought another Chevy again. Find some good charts. You can adjust your...- ppine

1500 vs 2500 for towing travel trailer (downhill)
A 3/4 ton truck is superior in every way going, up and down or on the flats. Some of the approaches to a place like Death Valley are really steep. Sometimes you have to let your engine cool off and sometimes you have to let the brakes cool off even with a big truck and a diesel.- ppine
