2002 Dodge ram 1500 Auto to manual conversion

Wow this is an old thread! Did you finish your project? I still have the same truck and yes the transmission, torque converter or something is making noise when it hits a certain amount of torque on accelerator.

    Gen 2 interior upgrades.....

Have been slowing upgrading my interior, I went to the fabric store and they had 1 option for headliner material so I glued this on instead.

Good video on replacing A/C and heater core replacement

Thanks for sharing, am getting ready to put in a new AC system and I know the the evap core is old so got 100% new components because I don't want to do this twice.

    Driveline noise with light acceleration

A little update, had a friend take a look and it sounds to him like the noise is from the torque converter.

    Driveline noise with light acceleration

I listened to the videos, can only hear the noise in the first one. I did find something concerning, the transfer case has 2 mounting bolts underneath it, one was loose and the other one is missing. The exhaust leaks are there but thats not the noise. Differential, transmission and...

    Driveline noise with light acceleration

When accelerating lightly I occasionally get a noise between 1-2k RPMS. It is low rumble noise from the driveline, only happens when I lay into the gas pedal lightly. If I gas it harder the noise goes away or let off the same regardless of speed or RPMS although usually only happens at low RPMS...

    Evap Core access hole?

I agree, it is a complicated jumble and difficult access. A few years ago I took my dash out to replace the heater core, out of curiosity I opened up this box. I honestly can not remember where exactly the Evap core sets but I may end up putting one back in since I may actually want AC in the...

98' 4x4 opened up CAD and saw this

It has been quite the project and learning experience, lots of good info on Youtube but didn't find anyone talking about this specific issue I had with the CAD bushing and bearing. Here are a few pictures:

98' 4x4 opened up CAD and saw this

The CAD was completely dry when I opened it up. - Replaced plastic bushing which I set in RTV silicone to fill the wear gap, the bushing centers due to the back setting snuggly where intermediate axle wasn't making contact. (Maybe JB weld or something would be better so am considering redoing...

98' 4x4 opened up CAD and saw this

I was thinking someone may have some input on to what is going on, I have it all figured out now and plan to post some updates on the project.

2002 Dodge ram 1500 Auto to manual conversion

I have wanted to do the swap but heard it is a real hassle, it is good to hear that it is not as bad as you initially though. Or is it now at this point? I have a 98' with the v8 5.9 which I think is the same engine, the transmission will most likely go out if I keep driving it like I have.

    Dodge/Ram/Dakota 4WD front drive discussion….

You have got to understand how a differential works then it makes sense. If one side is disconnected then only the spider gears spin, driveline and ring gear will not spin. If CAD is disconnected when truck is rolling forward then driveline will not spin. Also, the inner axle on passenger side...
