What DON'T you like about your RAM?

The "shift flare" from my 68rfe is driving me nuts! Wish I had the AISIN...

Common "small evap leak" code and reason?

I had the same issue with my '17 6.4...ended up being the purge valve solenoid as well. The dealer said it was a very common problem, along with warped manifolds, and failed lifters. I was pleasantly surprised by their transparency.

    Transmission woes

Does your 3500 have the 68rfe or AISIN transmission?

Did they fix the lifters on newer 4th Gens?

In regards to your GMC- the "cold start clatter" you heard was most likely piston slap, something I wouldn't be overly concerned about. The weak lifters in the hemi are a far more serious issue imho.

Did they fix the lifters on newer 4th Gens?

That's terrible. What's your dealer doing to address this problem?

2018 Less than 95K Miles and Needs New Transmission

I always appreciate honest feedback from truck owners, regardless of the manufacturer. Best of luck with the new 7.3 Ford! I sure as hell wouldn't mind their new 10-speed putting down the power in my Cummins equipped Ram. Heck, their old 6-speed would be a MASSIVE upgrade over the 68rfe and...

    UPDATED - Failed Tranny 2.0

My 68rfe has major shift flare at only 22,000 miles...common quirk with this particular transmission. I felt like it was excessive so I took it to a reputable transmission shop. Their lead technician took it for a spin to monitor the TC lockup during shifts. Afterwards he laughed while...

    Evap Code

I went through the same thing and it turned out to be the "evap purge solenoid". If not the gas cap, this is the likely culprit. Common repair according to my local dealership.

    Transmission "Ordeal"

I wish I had something a value to contribute here...what you're going through is inexcusable. I've never seen someone treated so poorly by any manufacturer. The lack of accountability on display by FCA is staggering...heads should roll for this. I know it doesn't mean much, but I appreciate...

The Ol' This vs. That - Which RAM

Just heading out so I can only offer a short reply... if you really intend to keep a truck that long I would seriously reconsider a Toyota Tundra. Neither the diesel with the emissions garbage or the modern hemi are going to last that long without major repairs IMO. Not a popular response on a...

Did Redline Oil work against your Hemi Tick?

It was definitely the lifters. I took it to the dealership thinking it was a warped manifold and they came back and said it was the lifters causing the noise. Unfortunately they refused to address the problem until the truck threw a code. Keep in mind the truck was whisper quiet on startup...

Did Redline Oil work against your Hemi Tick?

I got so tired of fighting the cold start knock/tick that I traded in my '17 6.4 for a Cummins this past Thursday. I used Redline 5w40 for over 1500 miles and it did nothing to quiet the valvetrain. What it did do was knock my fuel mileage down a good 2mpg on average. I do want to say thank...

Anybody actually like there 3.73 towing 8-10,000 pounds

Huh? I'm not following the "learn to use the transmission different than before" comment. It's not a manual, please explain. Maybe he's pulling at higher elevations like myself. At home I'm sitting at around 4800', and like him struggle to pull any sort of grade with my 4:10 equipped '17...
