Sticky brakes when coming to a stop

You ever notice that an original serpentine belt will go 100,000 miles or more? Try getting that many miles from an aftermarket belt. Ditto for brakes and other service or maintenance items.

Sticky brakes when coming to a stop

I'm a believer in the fact that the manufacturers of the brakes done to brand engineering specs have many many millions of R&D money to back them up. Aftermarket parts, while we would REALLY like to believe "meet or exceed" OE are simply not. But, the gorilla in the room is money, eh?

Remove the wheel after jacking up and supporting the vehicle safely. Take a very bright flashlight and shine it on the edges of the brake pads where they meet the steel backing. Look for an orange-ish discoloration in the pads at those points. Presence of this coloration means that the resin of...

    Marvel Mystery Oil in HEMI

I bought a 2007 Kia Sorento from the salvage pool on August 7th, 2019. This wasn't a flood car or wrecked; it was a neglected high mileage car whos owner should be banished to a bicycle ;). She had let the oil changes go over 10-12,000 miles many times in it's 203,000 mile life of hardship. The...

    greasin that hitch

I've never (and still don't) leave my hitch in the receiver. I keep a heavy plastic bag in the vehicle and put the hitch and clevis pin in that. I put a plastic end cap in the hole for neatness. I have acquaintances who think that leaving their hitch in reduces the likeliness of getting...

Check engine light still on after replacing cap

Crawl under the truck. Find the larger diameter hose coming out of the charcoal canister that goes towards the fuel tank. Get a drain pan, don some nitrile gloves, have a roll of paper towels at hand, and remove the hose at the canister. Expect to have liquid gasoline run out. upwards of a...

    which bulbs for 2013 Ram?

alcohol is so chemically active, that I choose to use a high quality glass cleaner, plus I wear nitrile gloves to handle the bulbs in the first place, to keep sebaceous oils from my skin off the glass.

    which bulbs for 2013 Ram?

In my case, I have a shop and an air compressor. I took my tail light assemblies, cleaned them, and used throttled compressed air to dry the insides as much as was possible, and repaired the cracks as I previously stated. I could not get every last drop of moisture out of either of them, so, I...

    Synthetic Oil

Anyone can promulgate the narrative for their product.... Let me explain... On a few occasions I had Ford Powerstroke owners (7.3L) come to me with a "slipping transmission/low performance" complaint. In all instances, they had changed their own oil and installed 5W30 Rotella in these engines...

    Help with geometry fail…

Look at your steering knuckle from the front towards rear for this analogy: Draw a line through the upper ball joint center pivot point and extend it through the same point into the lower ball joint. This is called the steering axis inclination (SAI). Extend this line down through the tire...
