    INSTRUMENT BEZEL

Wow. They have the full bezel for 94-97. I figured they would have the 98-01. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What do SMART people do about their broken dashboards?

So the sheet metal is the same from ‘94-‘01. The only difference is the ‘98 and up used a different dash design and new wiring harnesses. It would require some wire tracing and splicing to make work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Transplant Dash

If you whip out the FSMs for the two and can figure out how to splice things, anything is possible I assume. But the HVAC controls in the 96 are vacuum operated and the ones for the 98 are electric. Also, the PCMs are different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    99 Drivers seat

There’s a solenoid you can remove. It requires removing the seat cover almost. Google it and you’ll find a couple videos on YouTube. I used this one: Though that may be a crude, yet effective fix, the true cause of the issue is a black box under the center jumper. It’s an inertia driven system...

    New “under dash”

Yup. It’s a double din radio actually. Got the kit from Crutchfield. Relocates the cigarette outlet to the left. I had to add about 6” of wire to the cigarette outlet to make it so the bezel could come off to unplug the harness. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New “under dash”

Yeah, so my truck is a diesel. The knobs and the switch tune certain aspects of the fuel and turbo, and the gauge monitors the overall pressure in the system. It is a good place for auxiliary switches though. Just a simple piece of steel from Lowe’s. I used a piece of cardboard to make the...

What do SMART people do about their broken dashboards?

I found one for about $100 bucks. It broke while we were removing it, but I plastic welded some pieces back on. It worked, but the surrounding plastic is still brittle. It just broke in other places. Honestly, we ALL need someone to remake the lower dash in a better plastic (UV resistant). I...

What do SMART people do about their broken dashboards?

Be careful removing it, however. The “core”, or lower dash may be just a brittle. If this turns to garbage, you’re pretty much SOL. Your best option from there is to find a good one in a junk yard, or spend half a grand on one from some dude on EBay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    No cabin filter

Geno’s Garage sells them. I just installed it on my cowel. It required some drilling out of the plastic so the cowel retainers fit right. I’ll get a picture for you tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
