Truck died after idling now won’t start

Indeed...it really shocked me when I figured it out. FWIW...I've got a second battery on this one, connected via cables through the firewall to the back (jump) seat, where the second battery sits. We're doing that to support the expanded comms gear, lighting, and a hefty inverter.

Truck died after idling now won’t start

I know this sounds incredibly simplex, but it is the same circumstances as yours, and this is what happened. Same '97 truck/engine, same behavior, and here's what got it "all better." Had to wash out the fuel tank (so many years of sitting, and there was crap in the bottom). Replaced the fuel...

    Occasional stalling without code

Does that engine use an Idle Air Control valve? I had a very similar issue with my 5.2 over time, in that it ran well, but would die on idle (as with you), and if it idled, it was 500 or so and iffy. Now it's 700 or so, and steady. No stalls. IAC is on the firewall side of the throttle body on...

    Snorkel

Happened to run across this post...I'm working on a resto-mod 97 Ram 1500 with 5.2 eng. Our group is building it out as a disaster response vehicle for our local team (and to give a couple of our older veterans something worthwhile to occupy their time...we've been granted access to the garage...

Death of the V8 & birth of a.... Inline 6?

I'm gonna show my ignorance on this one...but I do have a POV on it. First, I haven't even kept up and am not familiar with the "new" I6 (been busy with the project truck). Second, though, is that I've owned a long succession of Ram (before they were called Ram) and Jeep products, all of them...

    New to Forum and Need Help with a 2000 1500 5.2L !!!!!

This just happened to trigger a memory of a prior 1500 5.2 I owned...acted that way when the timing gear failed.

Project truck - where's the horn fuse?

Did some circuit tracing and find that, unless I want to restore the truck to OEM (I don't...it's gonna be a disaster response vehicle), it'll cost a bunch to replace all the elements of that circuit chain just to get a functional horn...which had become a serious consideration as the truck has...

Project truck - where's the horn fuse?

This is a project truck for the island's disaster response team (and my DD). It's paid for, being resto-modded, etc. but sometimes the most minor (?) things are so irritating. Where is the horn fuse on a '97 1500? I've looked at the actual horns, and tried to replace them, but what shows in the...

    Military Roll Call!!

USCG Combat Squadron One/West Coast Special Services, 1965-1970 (I worked a wacko double job in intel, and also with Special Services...making the service look good to the public); then a whole lot of disaster response work and forensics in the meantime. Since retirement (I'm 73) I've been...
