    All Weather Tire Question

WHen I did my search in 2017, the Yokohama Geolanders were rated 2nd just below Firestone Destination ATs. I live in NW illinois. My search criteria was good wet and dry traction, good snow/ice traction, good braking, good tire life, and QUIET going down the road. Yokos were $30/tire cheaper...

What do you always have in your truck?

Have Ram boxes so I carry a LOT. Right side is full tire changing gear (floor jack, big lug wrench, etc.) Left box has everything else. Tool box, 2tarps, towels, rags, diesel additive, qt oil, jumpers, small air comp, shovel, hitch insert, tow strap, jeesh I got a lot of stuff. Lots more i'm...

Fouling intake caught up to me.

r.e. 2017 Ram 1500 4x4 auto 3 liter diesel. 44000 miles. Road trip last weekend. After about 230 miles the generic P 0299 alarm came up and lost turbo function. Limped into Blaire NB, to Woodhouse Ram. Found MAP sensor and then intake manifold completely sooted over to the point a couple of the...

i really like my Yokohama Geolander ATs. Quiet, good wet/dry/snow traction. Not sure of load rating. Is a P series, not an LT.

What Rocket Scientist Designed This ?

Now wait a minute, I'm a retired engineer. Of course I thought of future maintenance needs since I grew up on a farm, and do most of my simple home and auto repairs. Does make you think though that they don't include a mechanic during the design process.

    V6 or V8?

I'm the same age as you. Today's V6 engines put out almost the twice horsepower of the V8's back in our early years. Driven both, V6 gets notably better MPG. Wish I'd got a V6 instead of my eco-diesel since towing plans have changed.

    Dee Zee Tailgate Assist

On my truck, the upper one stayed on, and I removed the lower one. No rattles after 5 years, no rub/impact marks and DeeZee still works great.

Well, looks like I have lost faith in BFG KO2's Anybody ever seen this happen?

I like my Yokohama Geolander ATs. Good wet and dry traction. In surveys, they run a close second only to Destination AT, at cheaper price.

How Many Have Been Using Their Block Heater This Winter?

several nights this winter it got below zero outside, and still pretty dam cold in the garage, so I plugged it in until weather got considerably above zero. Left myself a note on the steering wheel "hey dummy, engine heater plugged in !" Sounds funny, but I really do it.

    Ram rip off

There are multiple compaints about air susp not working in cold weather climates. That's why I didn't order for my 2017.

had my first whoops in the truck

Ouch. On a previous ice storm this winter wife and I were coming back from a trip to MN to visit son/grands. Wife's turn to drive. Hit a slick overpass at 65mph. Back end started sliding around, but she kept her cool and straightened it. Ice sucks.

    Time to upgrade

Here's how my '17 ED looks with similar mods. I had the lower rocker coating done. The only thing added since the pics was 3" chrome step tubes since I needed them after my 2 strokes a year ago. Not shown are the hot red brake calipers.

    Which engine for reliability?

Hemi guys will disagree but the V6 pentastar engine is the most reliable engine when it was offered. Lots of power (more than our V8s of the 70-80's). Don't know if its still offered in current Rams. BTW i have an Eco Diesel, but wish I had the V6.
