    Could be the thumb drive is too big. Try a 33 gb and see if all songs are recognized. I have had problems in the past with larger drives.

    Anything can have issues. I have a 6 speed, never a problem. Really haven't seen enough posting in many years that would lead to a concern that the 6 speed has a problem. Beware of "hearing things". Do a search for things you want to know and see what comes up here.

    Have you had the battery load tested? Not just a meter like at a auto parts store, but an actual load test. Your volts may be fine but it could be having a problem with amps. That could cause your problems.

    Is your truck a classic (1500 in door, not in hood). These running boards are for classic. As far as drilled out holes, assume you bought used. Someone must have drilled to install boards and gave up. But the drilled metal looks fresh, no rust, a bit weird.
