Ducati's "desmodromic" valve system. The engine's valves are opened AND closed by cam followers. There is only a very weak valve spring on those. Valve lash is set by hand lapping the cam followers. The older two valve Desmo engines could have the valve clearances set relatively easily. The...

Doing this will bypass the "heating" of the ATF, and will not generate any codes, as the coolant circuit thru the 3-way valve will remain intact. The TBV, transmission bypass valve which is located inside a manifold behind the heater unit, will still keep ATF from flowing to and thru the trans...

Why on Earth do people want to disable MDS? (Hemi newb here)

"Normal" fuel mileage depends on what one's definition of "normal" driving is. Easy driving on the rural roads around here I routinely see 18-19 mpg on the Lie-o-meter. In stop and go in town, that will drop to the 15-16 range easily; less if I drive more aggressively like rabbit starts and...

When I had my 2012 Boss 302, I first ran the MC 5W-50. After a LOT of online research found that the MC 5W-50 sheared down to a 30 weight in less than 1000 miles in the 5.0 motor. After I installed a trio of gauges on the car, including an oil pressure gauge, morning start up pressure was well...

Good jest gents but after living in Germany for 12 years while stationed there when on active duty, one really gets used to doing things "metrically" (if thats even a word). The Metric system just makes sense. It took me a bit to reacquaint myself with the damn English/US system after my last...

    Engine oil temp?

Good pic. looks as if FCA changed the calibration on the TBV for the 8-speed on the '19 MY trucks as your trans temp is at 170 degrees. If I took my '17 on an ~15 mile (assumed) round trip in similar temperatures, my trans temp would be at or close to 185 degrees depending on how hard or fast...

    Engine oil temp?

I believe tho, the A8 cars have some kind of thermostatic valve plumbed in the trans cooler lines, at least I've seen what looks like one in diagrams of ATF lines for those vehicles. I do know that diesel Rams have a thermostatic valve plumbed into the ATF lines running to and from their trans...

    Engine oil temp?

Here is a pic of the bore in the aluminum manifold the TBV fits in. The cast tube leading to the top of the pic carries ATF to the trans cooler lines and to the cooler when the TBV opens.

    Engine oil temp?

In the FYI category, here is a pic of the TBV removed from it's bore in the aluminum manifold which is bolted to the back of the trans heater assembly. The black plastic cap is at the bottom. The TBV just pulls off of the plastic cap.

    Engine oil temp?

Actually thats not entirely true. I acquired a complete trans heater assembly from a wrecked vehicle and looked at the TBV. It's held into it's bore by an internal snap ring on a plastic, o-ringed cap. The snap ring can be removed, the cap and TBV pulled from it's bore, and the TBV removed...

    Engine oil temp?

Thats interesting. Never saw that with mine. I tow a max 3500# GW enclosed cargo trailer, and whether pulling that (empty or loaded), or with no trailer, my 8-speed temps sit at 185/186 degrees when driving normally. When accelerating up a long incline (tho nothing remotely close to the Ike)...

Perhaps. I also own an Armalite AR10 and love it. The LMT weapons are made to withstand years of military use, and the 7.62 version was produced in response to an RFP from the UK military, a contract they won. LMT is based in Ohio I believe, so it's a win for the US. Overspec'd no doubt, but...

L129A1. I misquoted the price: $5999.95. This is as close as you can get to the weapon provided to the UK military. One hell of a weapon, but then so is the price. 7.62X51 SPECS Model L129A1 Reference Rifle With Accessories Caliber 7.62x51 Operating Method Direct Impingement Barrel 16...

In a firefight, my choice of weapon would be an LMT (Lewis Machine Tool) 7.62 AR carbine. That weapon was selected by the SAS as their weapon of choice. Unfortunately those babies cost in the $3500 ea range, which is a tad more than I would prefer to spend for a rifle.

Have a Marlin Guide gun in 45-70. More than a few rounds at the range without a good recoil pad will leave a sore shoulder, and thats shooting only the standard 300 grain rounds. Try shooing one of Garretts 540 grain "Hammerheads", (safe ONLY in a Marlin lever action), and you will have a whole...
