"Normal" fuel mileage depends on what one's definition of "normal" driving is. Easy driving on the rural roads around here I routinely see 18-19 mpg on the Lie-o-meter. Good pic. looks as if FCA changed the calibration on the TBV for the 8-speed on the '19 MY trucks as your trans temp is at 170 degrees. If I took my '17 on an ~15 mile (assumed) round trip in similar temperatures, my trans temp would be at or close to 185 degrees depending on how hard or fast...- tsielski

I believe tho, the A8 cars have some kind of thermostatic valve plumbed in the trans cooler lines, at least I've seen what looks like one in diagrams of ATF lines for those vehicles. Here is a pic of the bore in the aluminum manifold the TBV fits in. The cast tube leading to the top of the pic carries ATF to the trans cooler lines and to the cooler when the TBV opens.- tsielski

In the FYI category, here is a pic of the TBV removed from it's bore in the aluminum manifold which is bolted to the back of the trans heater assembly. The black plastic cap is at the bottom. The TBV just pulls off of the plastic cap.- tsielski

Actually thats not entirely true. I acquired a complete trans heater assembly from a wrecked vehicle and looked at the TBV. It's held into it's bore by an internal snap ring on a plastic, o-ringed cap. The snap ring can be removed, the cap and TBV pulled from it's bore, and the TBV removed...- tsielski

Thats interesting. Never saw that with mine. I tow a max 3500# GW enclosed cargo trailer, and whether pulling that (empty or loaded), or with no trailer, my 8-speed temps sit at 185/186 degrees when driving normally. Perhaps. I also own an Armalite AR10 and love it. The LMT weapons are made to withstand years of military use, and the 7.62 version was produced in response to an RFP from the UK military, a contract they won. In a firefight, my choice of weapon would be an LMT (Lewis Machine Tool) 7.62 AR carbine. That weapon was selected by the SAS as their weapon of choice. Unfortunately those babies cost in the $3500 ea range, which is a tad more than I would prefer to spend for a rifle.- tsielski
