Every time I see the 6'4 I shed a little tear.
My Avg fillups are around 25-27 gallons. Never really hurt my feelings to be honest. Misjudged pulling a heavy load once was happy to have the extra but still only took 29.8 gal to fill back up.

It won't change what you can tow but of course it will limit the amount of of droop before you hit your bumpstops. So really it depends on how much and how heavy. I did not lower mine but I have installed a HD air bag kit to keep me level when towing.
I am 1900 lbs under my weight limit and it is more stable then a number of my 3/4ton trucks I have had in the past, and has better brakes. Again make sure you are within your ability.
