I used the Blue ones, 16-14 AWG. You may have to slightly open up the tip where the metal comes together. -

The Curt 56584 with the 5 pin is the way to go. Throw a bullet connector on the reverse light and plug it in to the open hole on the flat harness. Waterproof it and you are good to go with absolutely no splicing. -
foglights or high beams...not both?
I'm assuming you have a backup cam in the tailgate. Does all that light wash the screen out? I put in LED reverse lights which are great and am putting an OPT7 Tailgate LED bar this week. I think it will be ok. Most people have complained about bright license plate lights washing the camera out...
