So thinking about swapping from quads to the projectors, so my question is it worth it? Is the light upgrade worth the cost of the lights?

Thanks.

Honestly.... it's cheaper and better to swap in a an H1 bixenon projector. Will give you better light output than the OEM projector housing. Most people do the OEM projector bc of the styling and LED turn signals. But the OEM projectors swapped to the FXR projector are the cats meow. The only issue is the cost, I plan to try to swap the FXR which cost like $250 just for the parts But worried about getting the stock headlights apart.

Cheaper and easier to swap H1 projectors in your stock housings And HID harness.

I'll throw in my 2 cents as well though ;)

I have ran almost every imaginable light in my '10. 09-12 Quads (stock, drop in HIDs and Retrofitted sets), 09-12 Duals (stock, retrofitted), 13+ (stock and FXR retrofitted)......

If I where to say that I'm going to stay with halogen as my primary output......the 13s I was "ok" with. Quads and duals......bleh. The 13s I was good for 6 months running those and not worrying about it (though, I live in the city).

The MH1 projector in the quads will give you better output than the stocker 13s, but....depends on your end game, how much you are looking to spend, and if you are doing the work yourself or sourcing it out. Opening the stockers can be fun! I laughed......I started my new employee on crackin' lights the other day. He did good?

I didn't tell him it was already cracked in the back (teaching, and pulling for parts!)

that was fun!

When it comes to the lighting I have ZERO interest in cracking them open / baking or anything else with taking lights apart to that degree. I can just dont want to deal with it. $700-$800 bucks is what I am looking at and thats what new projector lights run (including Jeremy's adapter). Anything more than that $$ I don't want to spend. So if we are saying its better and worth that cost then I'll do it but if its OK but not wow then that mod money for something else. (Aside from looks)

i picked up a set of the TYC projector replicas and they are a big difference when compared to the stock quads....then i put a set of HIDs in from Jeremy. now i have trouble telling if my factory fog lights are even on, when before with the quads i felt like i couldnt see if i didnt have my fog lights on.

All sorts of options really. If you can have the truck down for a short time I can retrofit your lights - or no downtime, TYC projector it up (and have your stockers for sale or trade in time).

I try not to think about what I spent on the FX-R headlights, but you know what, it was F*ing worth it. Especially when we put them to the real test driving thru the mountains at night on pitch black twisty roads. If I had to do it over again, I'd do it in a heart beat.

I am anxious to see how yours come out.:favorites13:

I am about to get a set of duals from a local forum member. My original plan was to run the duals while i retro my quads but now I am thinking about just doing the retro on the duals and sell the quads... decisions decisions...

I agree with all of the complaints about quads above.

A simple fix: replace your fog bulbs with the same bulb as used in the quad high beams 09-12 1500.

You will see for miles. One warning: you'll probably want to put a single strip of electrical tape across the top outside lens of your fog lights (it hardly shows) to avoid blinding the driver of a vehicle you are driving close behind.

Craigslist people, I picked up OEM quads for $50 on craigslist and gave Jeremy $300 of my lunch money.

Hopefully come Monday they're finished!

Wow!! $350 all in is pretty good. I picked up a set of quads for about the same price and I'm doing a quad projector setup which is costing way more than that. Good luck with it!
